So ... a dangerous abuser accuses his partner or ex-partner of a violent crime (this is common) & get the cops to charge her, usual delays until it's dropped/heard and now the govt will cut off the accused's entitlements, making her - & her children - wholly dependent on her abuser? Get out of it.

A chart showing the collapse of gas electricity generation over the past decade.

A chart showing the collapse of gas electricity generation over the past decade.

Gas use for electricity generation in Australia is plummeting.

Down 50% over the past decade (!!!) in the NEM on the east coast.

Gas has a small role that's getting smaller and will be absolutely crushed by big batteries in the electricity.

Not a transition fuel, no matter what BS the PM pushes.

Please read this & help save the State Library of Victoria, entering its 'now fully trashed' era. I didn't go to uni - for me the Library was higher education in later life, research for my job, a revelation about what ordinary people could have access to. It changed my life. Not just a building.

Ohhhh... Liberal voters.

One of the most amazing feelings when our kids were really little was making them giggle. Just an outpouring of joy that made my heart sing.

Anyway, I just made my 21yo daughter giggle.

It still rocks.

Actually, I am. Not at her racism and xenophobia, that's a given for Pauline on a day ending in Y.

This particular stunt went badly last time, why do it again?

I don't need a new phone. Yes, my phone is over 3 years old, but the iPhone 14 is still supported, and there's nothing I do with my phone that requires a new phone.

To replace it with the equivalent iPhone 17 is AUD$1400. Why should I buy one?

I've just gone and read about this, and the ABC article explains that in her old kitchen, the GPO was too far from the sink to wash the hand blender without unplugging it, but in the new house, you didn't need to.

I have so many questions about how this happens AT ALL.

There's an area in the Vancouver level in Tony Hawk's Underground by the stadium where the floor collision is broken/unimplemented so you can bounce around in there doing air combos forever. Afaik you can only access it with the moon gravity cheat turned on. This is basically undocumented online

The fandom raged in reviews, socials, and endless YouTube rants.

I've lived through this twice now. "This isn't real STAR TREK!" Real Star Trek is Kirk/Picard,Spock/Riker,Bones/Crusher. TNG/Disco is awful! The writers don't understand Star Trek"

Me, eyes open in wonder: "Isn't it all brilliant?"

As a kid I read every TOS novel I could get my hands on, because that's all the Trek that was left unknown to me.

When Enterprise went to the great stardock, I was sad that there was no more Trek.

Then... Discovery. I loved it. Still do. Was it perfect? Hell no.

NEITHER WAS TOS, FFS.

I loved TOS. I loved TNG. I loved Voyager; I watched it in order, borrowing the damn VHS tapes from the local video store as soon as they released.

I slept on DS9, and I'm glad I did, because there was no way I could have appreciated it on first run, because of the themes it explores.

I genuinely appreciate this thread. I saw the first post this morning (my time), while I looked across at the other screen while I was working, and added a like, partly so I could come back to it, and it was as rewarding as I hoped.

I discovered Trek as a child in the early 80's. Pre-TNG.

a few years back, I went through an archive of Ron Moore's AOL chats with STAR TREK fans and put together a document that had anything that resonated with me as a TV writer, as someone dealing with fandom, as a member of fandom, etc. It was a good way to see how little had changed in almost 30 years

We are at a detente. Conversations will continue.

We told them. We told them repeatedly. We told them repeatedly, in multiple different venues, including the ones where they asked us to tell them. Multiple people, much smarter than me told people high up.

Then they ignored everything they were told, and shitshow may be an understatement.

Everything You Need to Know About Sun Gazing (and How to Do it Right) What exactly is sun gazing? Can it really benefit one's health? Isn't it harmful to the eyes? Read on to find out everything you need to know about sun gazing and how to do it right.

So, weirdly enough, it appears to be pulling that content from here (not WebMD, which is a huge surprise!) but all the same, this is just as likely to have been shat out by an LLM.

Bellingcat’s contact email has always been a magnet for people with fairly unusual views; paranoid delusions, sprawling conspiracies, the works. But recently, the pattern has shifted, we’re seeing more and more emails clearly written with ChatGPT.

One thing we *are* fortunate with is that 13yo isn’t much for social media, so the upcoming β€œsocial media ban” (sic, LOL), will barely have any effect.

As an outsider, I’d have trouble picking a single one of your Dems who β€œhates America”. Even most of the online leftists and liberals I know don’t hate America. They mostly yearn for America to be better for everyone?
