The Butterfly Garden by Dot Hutchinson got me back into reading as an adult. I read it in one sitting and it stayed with me for YEARS because the characters were vivid and the evil is something that a rich person could absolutely pull off, which is terrifying to imagine. Tons of TW though!!!
