Tennessee Williams’ first hit glimmers at Lakewood Center for the Arts • Oregon ArtsWatch Lakewood's "The Glass Menagerie," an American classic now more than 80 years old, is a good time, even if the cast can’t agree on a regional accent.

I'm back writing for Oregon ArtsWatch, which sent me to Lake Oswego for The Glass Menagerie:

Yesterday was my last day at Willamette Week. I accomplished a lot to be proud of* but I'm crushed. WW was my dream job and I lived it. Losing this beyond my control or fault is hard. Taking the weekend to breathe and grieve. I will miss the team a lot. (Birthday Tuesday, job loss Thursday is rough)

I Don’t Go a Day Without Seeing a Trans or Genderqueer Person Portland’s queerness is part of what brought me here.

I adore Jamie Strickler's essay for @wweek.com's Reasons to Love Portland Issue. Trans and nonbinary folks are nearly everywhere I go around town, and I personally can't say that about recent New York or LA trips. Especially now, this is a reason to celebrate:

Summer marks the first anniversaries of both my job with Willamette Week (June) and my mom's death (August). It's a weird season and a weird time to be here but that's how it goes. I'll look back at my favorite stories later, but I'm always here for feedback: andrew@wweek.com.

my sister has chosen "play Nintendo and get shithoused" as our Mother's Day celebration this year, so if you'll excuse me I need to load up on mimosas before losing Mario Party at the last second.

if you're close to your parents, keep it that way. if you're not, do what you can while they're here. family therapy worked wonders for us. if that's not an option then you have my heart, so just take it easy.
