As an established network of stations which contributes to European and international initiatives and projects, ICOS is a key component of European in situ greenhouse gas measurements.
Bert Gielen from the ICOS Ecosystem Thematic Centre presenting new parameters being piloted at Ecosystem sites at #LPS25.
These parameters, including LST and fAPAR, are part of wider efforts from the #NUBICOS project to develop cal/val products for new users within the remote sensing community 🛰️

Their presentation detailed how in situ data are complementary to satellite data, and outlined how NUBICOS works towards new Ecosystem variables for satellite calibration/validation.

Because of different sensitivities and feedbacks in the climate system, there's essentially a linear relationship between cumulative CO₂ emissions and global warming that we call Transient Climate Response to Emissions (TCRE).
If we want global warming to stop increasing we must stop CO₂ emissions.
