There are plenty of Dem collaborationists & accommodationists who absolutely need to be dealt with including the party machinery itself. This too has been a vector of elite impunity. But what we’re seeing is a particular kind of partisan problem: one of fascist party capture of the GOP.

Which is absolutely right, but this too represents only a temporary tactic. The problem embedded in our system is their very existence.

So as the saying goes, know your enemy: the rich & powerful operating this regime of fascism, collaboration, & accommodation. I assure you, they already know these dynamics all too well.

We cannot beg our way out of this bc that very dynamic—elite impunity—is both the goal & direct cause of this fascist crisis. A totally new order must be brought into being, one founded in withering accountability for those operating & profiting from these systems of repression.

This is what I mean when I say that we can defeat this regime, but doing so requires leaving the old order behind & striving to create one grounded in genuine democracy & equality. Historically, this is how legal systems of repression are defeated, not through legal means but via transformation.

What we saw in 2020 & what we’re seeing maybe more pointedly now is that the state exists primarily to protect the property, persons, & *ambitions* of the moneyed class. It simply WILL NOT RESPOND to our collective demands in its current form. It is, in fact, designed to do the opposite.

What people need to understand is that the fascist GOP is an extension of the moneyed class. Its policies of repression are an outgrowth of the way this group preys upon society. This is the reason it feels like every institution is “failing” rn, bc in fact they operate at our collective expense.

Alex Pretti was an ICU nurse serving veterans. He died trying to protect protestors being assaulted. A group of anonymous & masked men fired chemicals into his face, beat him, disarmed him, and shot him in broad daylight in front of witnesses. Then his government smeared him & defended his murder.

Senior US officials saying ICE agents have "absolute immunity," completely protected by "federal immunity," and block investigation into Renee Good's killing, it tells ICE they're above the law.

Things worth really hammering to any family and acquaintances whose reflexive attitude is “but we gotta enforce the law”:
(1) Lots of the folks being targeted came here legally; the administration has retroactively declared them “illegal” despite having done nothing wrong

So unless you’re demanding the creation a violent police state to enforce laws against jaywalking, littering, and walking your dog without a leash, you don’t get to appeal to some high-minded neutral concern for perfect statutory enforcement.

So you’re saying we should oppose the people who do the bad things EVERY TIME???
