“How can we transfer our knowledge on natural #chemodiversity to crop plants?” was the topic of our workshop in Großbeeren last week. We are proud of our Young Investigators who presented their research. Especial big thanks to our guest speakers for their great talks and wonderful discussions!

Our speaker, Caroline Müller @chemecolcm.bsky.social, just came back from the meeting of the International Society of Chemical Ecology @chemicalecology.bsky.social. She returned with new insights into fascinating research & the Silverstein-Simeone Award. What an honour & great achievement!

Scientists from our institute and @uni-kiel.de led by @sunsicker.bsky.social show that endophytic fungi boost the chemical defenses of poplars by producing their own alkaloid to fend off herbivores. They alter insect communities and influence aphid-ant interactions.
