I've been dealing with a lot of health issues, including severe migraines and shortness of breath. I have an MRI scheduled for Sunday, and maybe I'll get some answers, though the kind of things that can be found with an MRI might not be the answers I want.

For the sake of both my mental and physical health, I've been avoiding social media for a while now. I've decided to dip my toe back in slowly. Since I've had to give up streaming for a bit, I miss interacting with people. As long as I can avoid getting dragged down too much, maybe this will help.

@how2horror.bsky.social Good news! I just got out of a screening for the new Jurassic World movie, and it was excellent! Should wash most of the bad taste from the last two films away for a while.

I needed a mental health day. So I left work early, took a nap, and now I'm going to watch a wind-up monkey cause horror in inventive ways. This is just what I needed.

I haven't seen the others, but I caught Immaculate in theatres and was surprised by how good it was. I expected to be going to see a low-budget exorcist type movie and instead got a thought-provoking religious horror about bodily autonomy with the craziest ending I've seen in years. It was so good.

With today's free game on Epic, my library hit 400 games! I don't think I have ever purchased a single game on Epic, every game in the library was free at one time or another. (In comparison, I have been on Steam since 2007 and my library only contains 336 games.)

I haven't really been reviewing any of these movies for #Spooktober, but I had to go ahead and say that Revenge was exceptional. I can't believe it took me this long to see it.

Holy F@#K, but the revenge part of this movie had better be really good because this early part has never made me want to see a group of men die more. I need some Jigsaw levels of pain and punishment for these three men.

Not sleeping any time soon, so let's add another movie to the #Spooktober list! R is for Revenge, so let's just watch that. Revenge (2017) is next up for me as I work my way backward through an Alphabet of Horror.

S is for Silent! Revisiting the 1920 film, The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari for #Spooktober. This is one of those classics that so many have heard of, but it seems too few have actually seen. This is a classic of German Expressionism and in the Public Domain so you can watch it free on YouTube!

Continuing to move backward through the alphabet of horror for #Spooktober! T is for Techno. I'm going with an old classic, Chopping Mall from 1986. Can you tell that I have a taste that can only be described as a lack of taste? I love this movie!

Fallen behind by a lot this month, so here we go... U is for Underwater. I'm choosing 2018's Cold Skin, mostly because I had never heard of it before today. #Spooktober #Horror

As soon as the Chiefs game is over, I think I'll knock out V and W of my #spooktober by watching Underworld and hitting Vampires and Werewolves at the same time. Is it cheating, maybe. Is that going to stop me... nope.

At my daughter's request, we are watching Totally Killer. It is giving ne strong Final Girls vibes. So far, it's ridiculous but fun. Just like you want your horror comedies to be.

This movie opens with a female scientist being interviewed. The first thing they ask is why such an attractive woman would be interested in geology, and I imagine that women everywhere would be like, "Yep, that's pretty much how it is."

All alone with nothing to do but fold laundry. Time for another horror movie. X is for Xenomorph, and I suppose that means Aliens. So we're watching Alien 2: On Earth because this 1980 Italian film has to have aliens in it, doesn't it? I'm sure this one will be great!

If anyone was wondering... Yes, this 4 year old movie you never heard of about a killer Yeti is indeed very bad. I understand your shock.

Continuing to go backward, Y is for Yeti. Now watching the 2020 horror thriller Abominable. How bad can it be?

We probably should have watched that. I was not well prepared for the emotional experience that I would receive from this zombie film. As zombie movies go... 10/10!

Well, crap. After seeing my last post, a friend of mine who is striking called to tell me that he appreciates the support but that it is perfectly OK to go see a movie for now. Soooo, I guess I'll see The Nun 2 after all.

I don't know why I had in my head that the Conjuring Universe was A24. I guess I won't be seeing The Nun 2 today after all. Got to support my friends in their strike.

Time to turn all the lights off in my basement office and settle in for a rewatch of The Nun before I go to see the sequel tomorrow.

I got done precisely zero of what I had scheduled to get done today. Not one video finished editing. Not one print finished without turning into spaghetti. This weekend declared itself my nemesis.

Just saw Blue Beetle and I was not disappointed. It had a similar vibe to the first Shazam movie; slightly more mature in its humor, perhaps, but with the same sense of fun. A few minor plot issues and a one-dimensional villain were my only nitpicks. As a superhero movie, I'm giving this one an A-.
