Mill v1.0.0 has been released! :rocket:
It's a major release, bringing a number of big improvements (and breaking changes :hammer_and_wrench:)
Those include:
- builds are now compiled with Scala 3.7.1 (moving directly from Scala 2.13)

"Reich citizenship will not be laid in the cradle of every one born in Germany, but will be ceremoniously conferred on him after he has shown himself worthy of it through special accomplishments, through loyal services to the State." NY Times, July 6, 1933.

My sincere take on generative AI is: why on earth would you want a plagiarism machine to live your life? To get to think, write, or speak for you?
22.05.2025 11:04 β π 119 π 28 π¬ 2 π 0π Weβre launching Fight Paperwork
(AI appeal-writing for providers who are done getting steamrolled by insurers)
After helping folks generate 3,000+ appeals through Fight Health Insurance professionals asked: "Can I use this?"
And now they can use fightpaperwork.com to get paid for their work :D
Cyc has an inference engine that performs general logical deduction. Might be worth a blurb. It falls into AI, cognitive science, ontology, KR buckets.
I just bought your book. Excited to think this topic might make the last 20%.
I dunno about links, or causes -- I'm an armchair dismal scientist right? -- but concentration of capital distorts the market's ability to innovate. Borrowing from wikipedia: innovation "depends on the political and societal context in which innovation is taking place". Too little diversity is bad.

07.03.2025 18:28 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0At a public policy level I think we are failing to create sufficient social support for creative destruction (Schumpeter). It still happens naturally, but it sjeems to be through trauma. I am not an economist, but it seems like we could do this better. You might enjoy www.caninnovate.ca.
07.03.2025 18:25 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I read "Information Doesn't Want to Be Free" recently. It covers reasons why things are getting shittier with media services in particular. Quick read. Available as an audio CD on Spotify. I recommend it. I think there is thematic overlap with the industry in general, not specific to media.
07.03.2025 18:21 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0I think it depends on the people; the often mutually exclusive goals they're trying to achieve; taxes and subsidies (carrots and sticks). Plectics.
Is it a question about industry in general or specific teams or products?
Is www.dictionary.com/browse/enshi... a sufficient explanation as to "why?"? The wikipedia en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enshitt... has more context, including two tentative solutions (the end-to-end principle, and the right-of-exit).
