Sagebrush Sparrow - four inches long gray head, brown gently streaked back with a white eye-ring, white throat, conical beak and fine streaking on the breast.

Nice Rarity - Sagebrush Sparrow right next to our camp site in Death Valley National park.

The current Bird flu virus H5N1 circulating in cows and other mammals is acting suspiciously. Preparation is key here, hopefully the new administration has this on their radar and will push for antiviral science, public health messaging and vaccine development before the biggest waves hit.
