What a wild night at my son’s school tonight. We had a fundraiser dinner, at which my eldest son and I worked the raffle table. The coordinator of the raffle allowed my son to draw the winning ticket and to announce the number. Walking up to the table with the winning number in hand was his brother!

That’s a constant to me. I don’t measure my progress against someone else’s; rather, I look at how much progress I have made. Set YOUR OWN goals, and be YOUR OWN benchmark.

Thank you, Avery! We’re doing our best. At 11 years-old, it’s sometimes a chore to get him to practice, but he usually does about a half hour a day, five days a week. There has to be a balance for him to enjoy being a kid. Adulting can be exhausting, especially single-parenting!!

Good observation. I’m not a country fan, and I have noticed over the years that many of the country artists like to maintain gender stereotypes. Some of the males even objectify women and find subtle ways , at the very least, to pledge their ardent support of the right via their lyrics. No thanks.

And, there is more available to kids in their intellectual pursuits today; therefore, I posit, with confidence, that today’s kids are better off. Compared to you and me, there is a wealth of resources at their fingertips, even literally, via a tablet or smartphone. They have instant access to info.

Kids today are being brought up in a far different milieu than that in which you and I were brought up. I’m mid 40s. With that said, and given the kids’ exposure today to diverse cultures and advanced technologies, I think kids now have far more resources to leverage in their creative endeavors.

It should not be a luxury for a full-time musician to have adequate practice/rehearsal time; however, and I do not support this, it’s common for gigging musicians, especially, to be their own booking agents, publicists, digital content creators, etc. Defund ICE and put that $38B into arts grants.

Today was bittersweet. I sold my Saab sedan after 17 years of owning it. I brought my kids home in it when they were born. We have incoming a new SUV, outfitted for carrying two kayaks and three bikes. It represents our evolution as a family and the activities to which my kids have introduced me.

We here in MA stand with a woman’s choice. It’s sad that there are such wide disparities among the states, mainly in accordance with a given state’s dominant political party. If I were a woman, I wouldn’t want to abort in a bible belt state, yet, we are one nation? WTF? What a paradox, really!

Spare your dignity, Dr. Schumann! I have a second master’s in higher education administration that was intended for a career change that divorce and COVID, both of which happened simultaneously for me, derailed, but I still kept current on HIED. Long story short— HIED is a mess.

There shouldn’t be barriers for anyone to vote, but there are now obstacles for women who married and carried on the ages-old tradition of taking their spouse’s last name, which would, of course, not reflect on a birth certificate. It’s just another hurdle to suppress whole demographics.

And, I wasn’t trying to push them into those genres, either; rather, I just wanted to give them some early exposure so that they could go in whatever direction with their music that they chose while still having had that broad-based exposure from very early childhood.

That’s fantastic! By exposing my sons to a mixture of genres from birth, mainly pop, classical, hip hop, and jazz, my boys, especially my eldest, came to appreciate them all. Both are musicians, with the eldest playing clarinet quite well while my youngest has just begun piano lessons and loves it.

There was not a moderator? That’s profoundly discourteous to you and all of the effort that you put into your content preparation. I’m sorry that you experienced that.

As a musician, I’m all music first. To illustrate this, I’m learning the piano sheet music for Path, by the Jokers, from the K-Pop Demon Hunters soundtrack. Even though the song is sung fully in Korean, it’ll move you, believe me.

We’re going to miss these days in a few years. My kids are seven and 11, and the time is just flying by.

I really don’t want to accept this reality in which we are embroiled. I’m also astounded by the global expanse of this case, reaching foreign nation leaders for whom we once had much veneration. A senior government official in Norway was just charged by that justice department for his involvement!
