People across Saskatchewan are dying and families are left behind in perpetual grief. Can the Minister tell those people why her government has not invested in mental health supports for families left behind after loss?

Sask. family says lack of mental health funding is putting youth at risk Megan Isbister is using the start of mental health week to call on the provincial government for more supports.

We are losing this generation to suicide and mental illness. After 18 years of underfunding, the supports that keep our youth alive are not there. Families who have lost loved ones joined me yesterday to call for action.

Thank you to everyone who came out to our Day of Action for Mental Health Awareness. It was hard, but it was good and it was worth it. I will not stop advocating for more Mental Health supports in our province.

Sask. NDP says mental health underfunding is putting youth at risk NDP mental health and addictions critic Betty Nippi-Albright said Saskatchewan has one of the highest rates of suicide and self harm in the country, with First Nation girls particularly affected.

Our youth are in a mental health crisis. The Sask Party has been cutting mental heath funding for 18 years. If we do not act soon, we will continue to lose a generation.

Young people across the province are dying from this horrific drug crisis. I have attended many tragic funerals in recent weeks, as have my colleagues from the North. How many more funerals must be held before this government takes the necessary steps to save lives?

It was such an honour to be invited to witness the unveiling of the Indigenous War Memorial. We must never forget the sacrifices Indigenous veterans have made for our country and for our province. They fought so that we can call Saskatchewan home.

We hear the same platitudes from the Minister of Mental Health and Addictions day after day. When will this Sask Party government take action instead of giving lip service to those grieving a loved one?

Jeremy Cockrill sure has a way with words. Now if only he'd try something new - like backing them up with action.

Yesterday evening I had the opportunity to lay a wreath on behalf of the Saskatchewan NDP at the Saskatoon and District Labour Councils annual Day of Mourning Ceremony in Saskatoon, honouring those who lost their lives in the workplace.

Everybody needs access to treatment services. It is those that need services the most that need the most services. We need to get serious about providing services for good Mental Health and Wellbeing.

Canada will never be the 51st state — and we must take bold, decisive action to ensure we never end up in this situation again.

Let’s build trade infrastructure — rail lines, pipelines and powerlines — from West coast to East.

Let's focus on Saskatchewan’s future.
On Canada’s future.

1/2 Kicked off our Time to Deliver Rural Healthcare Tour in Cockrill’s hometown.

At 8 m pregnant, could I plan to safely have a baby in your home town? Too often the answer is no.

From obstetrical to acute care disruptions, rural Sk deserves better than closures, chaos & chronic short staffing.

I’ve met and talked with the Sandeskis for months. I’ve had the displeasure of seeing firsthand how Saskatchewan senior‘s fall through the cracks.

The Saskatchewan NDP and many others are standing with the Sandeskis until Fred has a roof over his head and receives the care he deserves.

Saskatchewan is facing a critical shortage of mental health support staff. Our healthcare system is overburdened and stretched beyond capacity, leaving too many people without the care they need.

It was an absolute honour to be part of the grand entrance and to attend the First Nations University of Canada annual spring Pow Wow. Over 800 dancers and 20 drum groups from across North America all gathered in Regina to celebrate through song and dance. Truly beautiful.

Our Bill, the Sikh Heritage Month Act passed in the house today.

We’ve been trying to get this Bill passed since 2019 and while the events that led to the Sask Party finally voting in favour are troubling, this was a joyful day for our team.

Congrats to Bhajan and Tajinder who renewed the call! 💪

Mental health and addictions are not separate things. They go hand in hand. More investment in mental health supports is needed to help end the addictions crisis we see today.

Investment in mental health supports is what is needed. Trauma of any kind affects one’s mental and physical well-being.
