Just got back from this screening! 🤓🎬

It was everything I wanted and more—an amusing (yet dark) commentary on the pathological cultural conflation of work with identity, masculinity, and honor.

Razor sharp humor, bordering on camp. Unhinged. Bumbling.

I was delighted and enraptured.

In town until the 21st and extremely down for a date where we consume edibles, wrap gifts together, snack on cookies, then unwrap each other 🎁

Also one of those important file structure things to have in your general knowledge base that I don’t think they really teach in school anymore?

And it can be hard to explain to people without giving them some kind of visual aid as to how the sorting would appear (the 2nd appearing next to the 21st instead of the 1st).

Just consulted on a digital archiving project and saved the archivist’s future sanity by letting them know that file names with dates should be structured “2007.01.02.filename” in order to show up sequentially.

(They started off the project naming them “2007.1.2.filename” 😓)

We shared bone marrow butter on crusty bread, a smoked trout spread which made the angels sing, a zesty crab rigatoni, and miso risotto with scallops.

*And* we made it home before the snowstorm hit ❄️

Okay, so what about the merchandise? I know they don’t collect it at the end of every day and lock it up in a giant vault to keep it out of the hands of imaginary thieves.

Not accepting cash enables the surveillance state! And it’s a discriminatory business practice.

I won’t shop there again.

It is such an insane experience to be out Black Friday shopping and be told at the register that the retailer doesn’t accept cash. Their reasoning being that accepting cash gives thieves a reason to break into their establishment 🤔

There was truly nothing I wanted to do *less* than cook for myself after all that. His ability to anticipate my needs and remove a burden is very sexy.

A big thank you to the sweetie who knew I was wiped from a long drive and cooking for 12 for 2 days and thought to send me a lil something so I could treat myself to brunch 🙏

Defused tense dynamics.

Served as intuitive social lubricant, appearing when needed w/o being asked and taking initiative on tasks, even though I only knew 3 guests out of 12.

My battery is critically low and I’m crashing hard 🪫 but we made it a resounding success.

Fed and entertained 12 people with a full spread for two whole days, making everything from scratch with my sister 👩🏻‍🍳👩🏻‍🍳

Played bartender.

Accommodated the elderly.

Wrangled 3 children under the age of 6.

Cleaned up baby puke.

My therapist observed today that I am “on one.”

So beware, I guess.
