I urge all of my friends to speak up against any and all racism. I urge you to be loud with your support of equality and condemnation of racism. Now, more than ever.

This post is part of my work on being loud. I will continue to work to hold the school, the board and the community responsible.

Whatever the processes are at the school are not working, because, clearly, kids are spewing hatred without fear of impunity.

I write this because I fear our society is getting more polarized and, as the mom of a black boy, I know this is not the last time he will endure this type of abuse.

That this much racism & hatred can exist in a child is shocking. This is the 4th time my son has faced racism at school—in a place where he is supposed to be safe. (The school finally suspended the boy for one day).

Our school system is broken. Each of these racist acts was dealt with in silos.

This week, a classmate got into an altercation with my 11-year-old and called him:
- a N****R
- a BLACK MONKEY
