I think we’re seeing a reorganisation of the Australian right, which could emerge in a full-blown MAGA version after this election

Appreciate the pātai. Te Pāti Māori won’t let Aotearoa import UK/US-style hate.

We reject attacks on trans, non-binary and takatāpui whānau. That’s not who we are.

Our Te Tiriti commitment means protecting mana, inclusion, and whānau safety.

Whakapapa over wedges. Manaakitanga over fear. Always.

🧵Masked ICE thugs attempted to abduct the school nurse at Cooke Elementary School, located in the densely populated Adams Morgan section of DC. Workers at the school intervened, demanding a warrant and holding up their phones and ICE scurried off without making their arrest.

While the left might screech about dismantling the giant robot we’ve built to shred immigrants, I am both proud of the improvements my fellow centrists and I have made to its immigrant-shredding capabilities and secure in the knowledge that nobody will ever flip the big switch that lets it shred me

The article says that in the "healthcare" industry, many are grappling with the loss of a colleague. No, these folks are in the insurance industry. They don't provide healthcare. They just help ration it for a fee.

Yes, I deliberately call it health insurance industry as opposed to health care industry because there is no care involved. The American health insurance industry is the most inhumane and outright malicious thing this country has produced. Right after the military-industrial complex!

Only a matter of time until violence made its way to the c-suite.
Mass layoffs and outsourcing. Not justifying what happened here but l've had 2 co-workers lose their houses so an exec could get a big bonus and watch the CEC brag on CNBC about opex cuts.

Read a post by a nurse who said UHC would routinely deny coverage for a seizure med for infants & children, insisting they try & "fail" UHC's preferred med 1st. So these babies would have seizures sometimes for months until UHC agreed they failed their med & covered the one the doc prescribed.

Obviously the worst people in the country are psyched for another Trump term, but the extent to which people are pissed off in the present—I'm thinking about the wild response to that health insurance CEO getting shot, but also overall—is something I'm trying to see as promising.

not only is it not worth mourning the murder of a piece of shit who profited from a firehose of human misery, if it made the other healthcare execs think even a little about the consequences of their actions it will 100% absolutely have saved lives

To be fair Sam Altman does represent the most iconic American figure: a guy who lies constantly who never faces any accountability for his actions, enriching himself in the most obvious, chaotic, needlessly destructive and craven ways available

NEW NEWSLETTER: Democrats have the chance to secure a majority at the NLRB and continue their popular defense of workers' rights. But with less than two weeks left on Chairwoman Lauren McFerran’s term, time is running out. Where’s the sense of urgency? therevolvingdoorproject.org/why-wont-dem...

I mean ACAB, cops outta Trades Hall etc etc, but ethics aside, by every conceivable metric (militancy, density, efficacy, combativeness with bosses, support for members’ self-basic interest etc) the SDA are several levels below police unions imo lmao
