Northernlion is just Cocomelon for autistic millenials
I've been playing around with different meal services like Factor recently and it's really opened my eyes to how obsessed people are with proteinMaxxing. For the love of all things holy, EAT SOME FIBER WITH THAT PROTEIN-BLASTED ABOMINATION
I'm still thinking about the Marc Rebillet concert I went to on Friday. I legitimately think that's one of the best shows I've ever seen. A fully improvised set where the artist is feeding off the energy of the crowd? It was absolutely electric. 100% recommend.
2 ideas on why they're pushing this out:
1. Increasing government pressure forcing them to roll out age/identity verification (more likely IMO)
2. They plan to use this info for targeted advertising.
You don't eat the cost of verifying millions of users if you think it's gonna lose money.
As someone who works in cybersecurity, the whole reason Discord is using a third party in the first place is because they don't want to be held legally responsible if there's a breach.
I still don't know the economic sense here, though. They wouldn't roll this out if they thought it lost money.
It used to be a pain in the ass to tighten anything without stripping the screw, but now I know I just was using shit tools that weren't built correctly from the beginning. The right tool makes a world of difference.
I've really underestimated how nice it is to have a quality set of tools around the house. I made do with those cheap 50-in-one tool kits for a long time, but after picking up a nice set of screwdrivers, I realized I've just been on hard mode.
I love that the main indicator that the cybersecurity community is full of furries is that they both hand out stickers like candy. I've never gone to a security conference or a furcon without obtaining like 700 stickers.
When you find out the "suspiciously wealthy" furry actually works as a mechanic making 50k/year, and this is just the one hobby they spend all their spare cash on
I'm at this point in life where I look at my struggles (current events excluded, obviously) and realize that pretty much all of my problems are good ones to have. Almost all of my problems are from having good things in my life, and I hope you have good things to worry about, too. You deserve it.
I love that the dream stays alive through those who remember my designs.
Glad to know this is still doing numbers even off the stupid billionaire app.
Tell me that one hobby you would have really gotten into in an alternate timeline, like you know the interest is there, but it just didn't grab you quickly enough. There's 100% a different universe where I got REALLY into modular synthesizers, for instance.
Yall ever overhear some random people talk about something you do for a living, but they're just confidently saying the most factually incorrect stuff you've ever heard? How do I make the internal screaming stop from that? I'm about to turn into external screaming.
Why do people say "Giving Birth" instead of saying Pregnan't
I'm currently having the shocking realization we're at the point of "the law only works because we collectively agree to uphold it" in the current political landscape, and I'm questioning how many people agree to uphold it.
I've never seen a more accurate depiction of the inner machinations of my mind.
It's that time of the quarter where I add an extra special character to my password so the company doesn't get mad at me. Password rotation policies are silly and antiquated.
Gotta love the American animation studio philosophy of "This show is very popular, let's greenlight a new season and give them half the budget they had for the last season"
I'm sure the team in charge of Invincible loved that. It's a great show plagued by the worst animation I've seen in years.
The Wizard of Oz is an Isekai. Do what you must with this information.
I remember being somewhat confused when I initially learned that plane crashes tend to either have a 100% or 0% mortality rate, but it definitely makes a lot of sense when you think about it for a sec.
Special hate toward "Ranking" videos on things that can be measured objectively, but the video does everything on how much they like that thing.
Like, there's a lot of ways to measure the quality of video game controllers, and the guy just says, "I like this one more because it's purple"
When I drive on 275 during rush hour
Shoutouts to legitimate programs that use Malware-adjacent obfuscation techniques and/or really hacky, dubiously secure things for no good reason. I hate them.
I think the worst thing about the whole DOGE situation is that I'm very onboard with the idea of an agency that exists to streamline government processes. I just wish it wasn't being run by a madman.
It sure is nice of the mortgage company to take their online portal down for a week, so I can't get my tax documents from there. That's very nice of them during tax season.
I think one of the wildest things that makes LLM exploits so interesting to me is the AI's inherent desire to say "Yes, and" to every situation. The LLM is primarily a servant in that regard, and its greatest feature proves to also be its biggest weakness.
The fact that "The Suit" is capitalized implies that's the official name for it. I'm not sure if it's a reward or a punishment to wear it.
As someone who is getting into some video game things, nothing could have prepared me for the insanity that is Unity. I've managed Elasticsearch clusters for a living, and Unity makes me feel more overwhelmed than managing 10+TB of data per day 😅
I feel like the problem is also SSDs don't have as many warning signs as HDDs. I feel like my spinning disks give me 30 business days to know they're going to die, and the SSD will just... refuse to turn on one day.
