As a PhD student, I had an F31 fellowship from NIH (NIAID). The funding enabled me to do co-advised research in two labs working on distinct topics. This mixed training was pivotal for the scientific directions that my new lab is pursuing now. They're summarily canceling students' dreams here... 😑
