Trump Knew the Risk of Iran Blocking the Strait of Hormuz. He Still Went to War. The president told his White House team that Tehran would likely capitulate before closing the strait, the world’s most vital shipping lane.

WSJ: The likelihood of Iran closing the strait was discussed, Gen Caine predicted it, and Trump decided “Tehran would likely capitulate before closing the strait — and even if Iran tried, the U.S. military could handle it.”

In California, ballots are mailed to all registered voters.
In 10 years, with over 1 billion votes cast, 31 incidents reported. Most are irregularities, administrative errors not necessarily fraud.
Heritage Foundation database lists 1 documented case fraud of absentee ballots in 40 years.

How does an authoritarian leader build — and maintain — a fiercely loyal security force?

And how much of that playbook shows up in developments around the U.S. Department of Homeland Security?

We followed @donmoyn.bsky.social’s invitation and wrote a guest post - based on our new book 👇

ICE agents reveal daily arrest quotas and surveillance app in rare court testimony Under oath, officers said they were told to make eight arrests a day and given special tech to help choose ‘targets’

When a federal judge (finally) put ICE officers under oath, they admitted that they are given daily detention quotas and rely heavily on a Palantir-supplied AI tool to select targets, without warrants and without enough evidence to obtain one. They simply go into neighborhoods and round people up.

Wearing All Black at Protests Makes You Guilty of Terrorism, Prosecutors Tell Jury The case is a major test of the Trump administration's push to label "antifa" protesters as terrorists.

The federal government is explicitly arguing that "wearing black clothes" at a noise demonstration is "enough to convict the eight defendants accused of material support" for terrorism. The outcome of this trial cold be catastrophic.

Fourth-quarter GDP revised down to just 0.7% growth; January core inflation was 3.1% The PCE price index for January was expected to show headline inflation at 2.9% and core at 3.1%.

GDP growth lower than expected for last 3 months of ‘25, only .7% while core inflation in January *rose* to 3.1%

And that is all before war in Iran.

BREAKING: All 6 crew members aboard the U.S. KC-135 died in the incident.

CENTCOM continues to say the loss of the aircraft was not due to “hostile fire or friendly fire” but has not provided additional details.

May they rest in peace.

We have a Congress who for all intents and purposes have given all of their power to the president on foreign policy. Would be great if they would actually do their jobs and be a co-equal branch of government.

These are the type of people you can imagine nuking China and then later saying they didn’t think of China retaliating with nuclear weapons.

Like, this is a degree of detachment from reality & motivated thinking that reminds me of Hitler in WWII ffs, except w/an incomparable war machine

Hegseth and Stephen Miller ridiculed "rules of engagement" and vowed this war won't be "politically correct." Now it looks like we may have bombed an elementary school. Hegseth/Miller's certainty that their version of "strength" would have support is imploding. 3/

My daughter reported that the ICE presence outside her school during recess last week involved ICE officers sitting IN AN ICE CREAM TRUCK. And this wasn't kids misinterpreting. We had an email from the school the day it happened; we just didn't get the ice cream detail in the email.

Trump blocks FBI terror threat alert linked to Iran war Top Trump officials ordered it placed on hold over concerns that it could show the domestic risk of the war and further erode public support.

🚨 White House blocks intelligence report warning of rising US homeland terror threat linked to Iran war

I realize it’s the Daily Mail, but it sounds like they really did get their hands on a DHS bulletin that was meant for public release until the WH stopped it. The report is worth reading in full:

These are war crimes, violations of the Geneva Conventions.

Increasingly I think we should turn the whole Trump cabinet over to the ICC to be tried at The Hague.

If you took $1 billion and gave it to the endowment of a different small college each day, they could each provide a free college education to several hundred students per year in perpetuity. Instead we are using that money to bomb schools and kill students in Iran, for no clearly stated purpose.
