Professor Sir John Charnley was a genius pioneer, carrying out the first ever hip replacement in November 1962 at Wrightington Hospital. Incredible to meet and hear from his family and those surgeons he trained and inspired at today’s Blue Plaque ceremony

Celebrating the opening of Light Night Wigan 2024 with our incredible Wigan Council Culture Team, Arts Council England and Things That Go on Things - a free awe inspiring light trail of art and community creativity in our beautiful Mesnes Park. 30,000 people will visit this weekend ❤️
