Looking down at the top of a circular tree stump in a snowy hedgerow & a view of bare trees with arching branches covered in snow, almost like a bower. The circular & flat surface of the tree stump serves to frame the image overlaid of the avenue of snowy trees.

B&W digital photography collage. Two photos adjacent to each other. One third of the photo is looking up at the branches of a bare oak tree against a cloudy sky. The other a close shot of an oak leaf balanced upright on a curved branch with woodland trees blurred in the background. The curve of the branch lines up with the thick branch of the adjacent photo. A visual dialogue.

15.12.2024 19:24 β π 17 π 2 π¬ 0 π 0A working level within the huge Dinorwig slate quarry in Eryri / Snowdonia. Jagged slate and looming mist make it resemble an inhospitable alien planet. A solitary bare conifer and some scrubby grasses the only colour in an otherwise monochrome and darkly shadowed scene.
Feeling a strong need to go and clamber around some Welsh slate quarries in the fog...

12.12.2024 17:57 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Abstract detail of the side of a metal skip, badly scratched and rusting. The sunlight hits the top half aligning with a horizontal seam in the metal, the rest in shadow. The gouges & scratches seem like drawn gestural marks & the horizontal seam & light give the impression of a landscape.

A homemade worn & battered Father Christmas made from a toilet roll, crepe paper & cotton wool dragging a lolly stick sleigh with tiny presents. He looks like his life is a misery.
Father Christmas is out again!
Another year survived in the loft, a Christmas miracle.

Congratulations to children from Sacred Heart school who have contributed drawings to Keely Hodgkinson's plaque on our Wall of Fame in Leigh. An 'Our Art Neighbourhood' project with Leigh Neighbours started four years ago, Keely is the 15th person to be included in the mural. #communityart #leigh

"Denis painted the majority of his informal nature studies out of doors. Notations on the back of this example, however, indicate that he based it on a drawing that he had previously made in the countryside near Rome while observing the phenomenon of passing rain accompanied by a rainbow. The horses and rider fleeing the storm are a motif borrowed from the seventeenth-century painter Nicolas Poussin." (The Met)

A red kayak rests on a sandy beach, angled towards the water's edge. The water is calm and clear, with a gentle gradient from light blue to dark blue. The beach is pebbled, and a small concrete structure extends into the water. The sky is overcast and pale.
