A working level within the huge Dinorwig slate quarry in Eryri / Snowdonia. Jagged slate and looming mist make it resemble an inhospitable alien planet. A solitary bare conifer and some scrubby grasses the only colour in an otherwise monochrome and darkly shadowed scene.

Feeling a strong need to go and clamber around some Welsh slate quarries in the fog...

Happy Birthday!

It’s tough being an artist these days, as confirmed by this new research published in Artnet:

U.K. Artists’ Earnings Dropped 40 Percent Since 2010.

Some 80 percent of artists surveyed reported that their earnings were “unstable” or “very unstable.”
