We need high-quality on what works in post-secondary education now more than ever.
Check out this terrific toolkit for running a great RCT, gathered from decades of @mdrc-news.bsky.social expertise. It’s 100% public and free!

MDRC has over two decades of experience conducting randomized controlled trials in higher education
And, for some reason, we've decided to give away all our resources and best practices to help other researchers conduct high-quality, efficient RCTs

My incredible colleagues Jonathan Lowe and DeShawn Preston on strengthening student supports at Dallas College! Shout out, also, to @ceh0.bsky.social, whose influence on this work shines through 🔦
Ed researchers! @aeraedresearch.bsky.social asks that we take a 5 min survey on "how specific [IES] datasets, surveys, research, and evaluations are used and relied upon by members" by May 28th to respond to questions from the judge. I'm not including the link on purpose but please check your email!
Join the CUNY ASAP National Replication Collaborative on May 22 for a webinar on new research into the ASAP model’s long-term impact on earnings and economic mobility. Hear insights from @mdrc-news.bsky.social and Columbia.

And if you don't come for me, you should definitely come to hear @jscottclayton.bsky.social talk about a benefit-cost analysis of ACE, the 4-year adaptation of the ASAP model!
Why am I always talking about @cunyasap.bsky.social? Find out why at this webinar next Thursday, where I'll share exciting new 8-year finding from the first replication of the ASAP model in Ohio:

An MDRC report shows that not only did @cunyasap.bsky.social in Ohio improve college success rates, but the program also improved their post-college outcomes, reports @tabithaw.bsky.social for Community College Daily.
Please share with those who are interested in joining the conversation on #queerjoy
Love this, thank you for compiling! Would love to be added ☺️
It's disgusting, cruel, and illegal. That's why Social Policy Workers United has filed an Unfair Labor Practice charge against @mdrc-news.bsky.social. Read more in the LinkedIn post above, and please share with your networks.

At this incredibly difficult moment when our field is under attack, @mdrc-news.bsky.social should be supporting staff who were laid off. Instead, they lied to their faces, making false promises about severance and refusing to bargain with the union.

CUNY’s Accelerated Study in Associate Programs (ASAP) model has been widely replicated and is nationally recognized for its impacts on college completion.
Thank you, @aefpweb.bsky.social, IHEP, and @publiccitizen.bsky.social for challenging the recent devastation at IES. Proud to be an AEFP member today (and every day).
I know there’s a lot going on today, but in case you are curious about the types of federal research being canceled, you can read 16 first-person accounts (including my own) here www.insidehighered.com/opinion/view...
very proud to see AEFP take up the fight to preserve IES and our federal research and data infrastructure
Not an easy decision to make, I'm sure, so I appreciate AEFP for standing up at a time when - as we've seen - it's all too easy to capitulate.
Incredibly important action from IHEP, @aefpweb.bsky.social and @publiccitizen.bsky.social to fight the administration's dismantling of the Institute of Education Sciences.

P.S. - we crafted our session to include both in-the-trenches practitioner insights and hot-off-the-presses research evidence... as it should be!
So there will be something for everybody 😊

En route to Detroit to join colleagues from @cunyasap.bsky.social and @sunyofficial.bsky.social Westchester Community College in presenting at #CSCC2025 the continued success, scaling, and sustainability of the CUNY ASAP model!
Check out our work this afternoon at 3:30pm and tomorrow at 11am!
On the value of research: these RCT findings have recently been cited in decisions to expand ASAP in New York, North Carolina, and Colorado
Safe to say there are thousands of students receiving ASAP because of these RCTs and hundreds of additional college graduates
SUNY Westchester Community College boosts graduation rates by 12 percentage points with comprehensive student support program
Program based on @cunyasap.bsky.social showed impressive results during the pandemic
With support from @arnoldventures.bsky.social
ASAP is of course well-known for producing these very large graduation impacts, but what makes this especially remarkable is that this study largely coincided with the COVID-19 pandemic.
The program had to rapidly evolve to a drastically different environment, but still produced incredible results!
If you need some good higher ed news today...
@mdrc-news.bsky.social just published 3-year findings from our RCT of SUNY Westchester's Viking ROADS program, modeled after CUNY ASAP. We found a *12 percentage point impact* on graduation rates, an increase of about 50%! 🎓 www.mdrc.org/work/publica...
We’re thrilled to see the impact of SUNY Westchester’s Viking ROADS program, inspired by CUNY ASAP! MDRC’s study shows a 12% increase in graduation rates, even during the pandemic. This success highlights the power of CUNY ASAP (and programs like it) in helping students achieve their goals!
I spent a lot of my time with grad students at aefp talking through what they do with dissertation papers that use restricted data when r&rs will likely ask them to go back to the data. I think editorial boards need to be talking about their options for navigating this.
Great day for a 5k
#AEFP2025 @aefpweb.bsky.social
AERA has just learned that all restricted-use NCES data licenses will be cancelled, possibly as early as March 20. We urgently request that all AERA members and others in the research community with restricted-use licenses take these two actions: www.aera.net/Research-Pol...
I plan to catch the first part of this tomorrow morning - any fellow #AEFP2025 attendees want to join? Message me if you’re interested!
