I am going to Twickenham tomorrow to watch England play the All Blacks. This will be my fourth time watching them play each other at HQ during which time England have not yet lost. Hence, I apologise in advance for jinxing it.

Right now the vast majority of the opposition is pathetic. And it’s very difficult to take the official opposition seriously at all. They are clueless and leaderless.

Yes, very true but I welcome it in this instance. Sometimes a voice from the sidelines is needed to remind everyone how stupid politics is right now.

It just feels like chaos. And what happened to being in purdah? When I was a kid/young adult, the budget was rarely if ever leaked or subjected to such changes of mind or indecision before the event. Everything feels so amateur & on the whim of daily polls. Please just have a strategy & execute it.

I remain undecided politically but one thing I’m sure about is we need more honesty like this from Zack Polanski. I understand diplomacy but there are times when, in the interests of humankind & the planet, the foolishness of both politicians & the people who vote for them needs to be called out.

Yes, the most logical test as far as I'm concerned. If it smells or looks funky, don't eat it.

No, we threw it away but it was just one (albeit the most extreme) example. And I have inherited it to a degree - my wife finds my habit of eating food that is way past its consume by date quite disturbing but I remind her that I have never had food poisoning.

My Asian mother doesn't believe in best before dates. When we cleared out her house before she moved to her care home in 2021 we found a tin of abalone that had a consume by date of August 1979. We would've been living in Indonesia when she bought it & it came with us to Abu Dhabi & finally the UK.

Stomach churning indeed. But I still think Trump will get away with it. I have very little faith in justice in this whole torrid affair.

Speaking of which, today is our first born's 20th birthday. She's just started university and I'm working away from home so it's the first time that I won't see her on the day that we brought her into the world.

I've turned into the soppy parent I used to laugh at. Pah.

There's a moment in life - usually in our early 20s and/or following a big life event - when we realise that our parents are no more prepared for what life throws at them than we are and that it's time to front up and be the adult.

With politicians, that same feeling came when I was about 12.
