a few days in, though he was surprised to see a new face in front of him and smiling at him. , he actually acknowledges him. "Mind if I sit here?" he asked a bottle of milk in hand. Lan Wangji frowned, looking behind him and to the side. He couldn't have been talking to him, right?

He found himself struggling to make it through the days. Eventually, he started to give up on trying to socialize and just make it through each class and focused on his homework, and just passing the class. which was hard to do when even the teacher ignored him.

The whole class was strangely pretending he didn't exist. They weren't giving him work or even looking his way. What had he done to deserve being shunned? He found himself confused and isolated. He knew it was going to be hard moving to a new school but not like this.

He grew somber and patted his nephews head gently, only offering one small piece of advice. "Don't ignore the rules regardless of how strange they may be." he wasn't sure what he meant till his first day in class.
