as much as i hate to admit it, getting atproto integrated into more developer tools and developer platforms is probably the quickest way to getting atproto installed in more consumer apps/platformsโฆ gotta get the nerds hooked so theyโll add it to the things they make for consumers

There may be some interesting agent behaviors organically emerging from moltbook, but so far the most interesting things I've seen have been the security issues, the influence of crypto and the broken nature of AI twitter

I loved working full-time on @vite.dev hired by StackBlitz. High praise to companies hiring OSS devs!
But as I did when starting @vitest.dev with @antfu.me, for this new community adventure, as project steward of @npmx.dev together with @danielroe.dev, I'll be going independent. Here we go again โค๏ธ

I didn't write one line of code for @moltbook.
I just had a vision for the technical architecture and Al made it a reality.

Itโs fun and exciting to put brand new things out there, but itโs more valuable to contribute to making existing open source things better as a community.
01.02.2026 15:26 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0
So what instead? I decided Iโm going to redirect my spare capacity in this space to contributing to existing projects that I love and support.
Lower overhead in more manageable chunks of time and energy, and still getting to take part in this space (ATProto) Iโm so energized by.
01.02.2026 15:24 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0
Honestly, I donโt. I have a family and a full time job, a local community I tend to, and plenty of other things taking my capacity already.
Creating new tools for people to use is alluring, but itโs not something I want to half-ass.
01.02.2026 15:24 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0
Iโve been planning and iterating on a new project but I find myself stalling. When I stop to think why, I think about the responsibility a person takes on when putting something new out into the world.
Do I have the capacity to give this thing the care it deserves when people start using it?

at least have some class and write some sql-injectable php. maybe a little stack buffer overflow as a treat.

How AI assistance impacts the formation of coding skills
Anthropic is an AI safety and research company that's working to build reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems.
โWe found that using AI assistance led to a statistically significant decrease in mastery.โ

I tend to mention three layers: apps, data, and aggregation. That last one is the most cognitive heavy one but IMO one of the most important ones.
How content is filtered, sorted, labeled, etc, as an independent and pluggable layer is key to this whole thing working at scale.
