This is a massive problem for american comic book publishing. The printing cost within the US is astronomical. Costliest printing on the planet. Just gobbles up everything. Outsourcing printing is not popular, but that's probably the only thing that'll keep indie comics (and creators) afloat.
It's a slippery slope, One day you're drawing a pair of boobs, another you're Jordi Bernet, looking like a racoon hunched over a desk, drawing a parade of tits in Cicca Dum Dum.
This grainy 35mm delight will never go out of style. I wish more tv shows used film cameras.
Something I've noticed in the painting branche and charcoal painting sub-branche, observing it for the past few decades up close, pencilers, no matter how skilled, seem to always take the back seat. The whole technique is considered... well, lesser.
