Nearing the end of Wuthering Heights, and huh?
near the end of Wuthering Heights—the Linton stuff drags a little (it’s fifty pages repeating the same relationship beats over and over), but it’s still good. And it really is fascinating to see how Heathcliff has been transformed into “moody hotness” when he’s a rabid squirrel in a human suit.
(It’s also terrifically well-written, in case that’s unclear.)
Good stuff, in that it makes you mad certain people aren’t currently on fire.

I think people have used "selling out" in two different, incompatible, senses for two different things. "Selling out" in the sense Scalzi talks about here -- taking paid work to earn a living -- has only ever been attacked by people who have never been poor, looking down at those who have.
