i just winced.

there's no real exploring, the combat is constant, and the first game has some of the most infuriating "platforming" i've ever played. they're good games, but they have very little in common with the modern adventure/action approach. and they are _very_ mean.

i've seen people mention the QTE sex games, and those are quite bad, but more than that, the first 3 games are brutally difficult, and Kratos as an unredeemable asshole from the start. (i love the new GoW games, but they rely on the memory of the previous ones, not the actual fact.)

my dislike largely stems from one of the worst opening sequences i've ever seen in a movie; past that, it's fine, but given how influential the novel is, it needed more than just "faithful and modernized" to be interesting.
