A few months ago, I downloaded the Postgres DB from Heroku and was able to migrate it over to some spreadsheets I was hoping to just host on Google Sheets and use as the "backend" but have not yet rewritten the app to pull data from it...

I have been slowly trying to shut down the Heroku instance of TastySnacking because it's using a super outdated version of RoR that is no longer supported. I can technically still post reviews, but lots of things are broken and I also pay Heroku unnecessarily.

Since I was in Chinatown to get my hair cut, I decided to try out the hyped mango mochi. Got mango mochi from Fay Da and Taipan bakeries to compare. The mochi from Taipan was much better and pretty satisfying, but the Fay Da one was lackluster. Full reviews on tastysnacking.com

I guess the last thing ill say is I ended up revising this paper during my baby's second week of life only for it to be desk rejected. Terrible use of a new parent's time and shows how relentless academic publishing can be. Would have used my time much more productively for my family if I had known

my goal is always get the work and ideas out there than to get some random set of reviewers to value my work, so hopefully people that are curious about the intersection of education & MLLMs find this paper useful!

Anyway I'm finding it increasigly frustrating to publish LLM stuff because you run into these siloed academic communities who don't have a clear stance on their AI Ed angle, and then the landscape moves much faster than publication cycles so you end up needless having to endlesy revise.

But we worked with diverse teachers and focused on them applying MLLM rather than teaching them explicitly how they work. Which I argue is more broadly applicable because we should be empowering diverse people to use this technology!

It's been pretty difficult to find the right community for this paper. At this point I've been burned by 2 computing ed conferences - seems like they want all the teachers to be cs teachers of thst they should be explicitly learning ML/CS ideas.

We ran these workshops in Nov 2024 with 12 NYC k-12 educators. Super diverse group of public school, charter, and magent school teachers asking with museum educators.
