Stopped for the night in Sebes, Romania. Small town, not much to see or do here, but feeling good about the choice of hotel and route weβre on simply based on the other #motorcyclists also here.

Gas stop in Romania. I ordered falafel & hummus but no hummus so she gave me something cabbage based instead. Good thing brownie is the same in multiple languages.
The bikes seem to stand out a lot more here. I seem to stand out more here too.

OsmAnd maps or Maps.me for navigating.
29.09.2025 12:42 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0So much history on display in #Budapest. Beautiful and heartbreaking. I loved seeing the architecture and learning about building foundations from centuries ago, but the shoe memorial on the banks of the #Danube is where I sat and cried for a moment.

#MotoTrip to #Bulgaria days 8 & 9:
First rest day. Glad to be exploring on foot after navigating traffic in the rain & crossing slippery train tracks embedded in the street on the way into the city of #Budapest

Unfortunately forest fire smoke is possible almost any time of year.
26.09.2025 17:34 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Spring is a great time, although you may find snow at higher elevations.
Fall is also a great time (like right now!)
Just avoid July & August because those are the busiest times. It seems like the worldβs population descends to this corner of the province and the crowds are frustrating.
Ok - but conformity is necessary sometimes, at least to some degree. Would you agree?
26.09.2025 16:00 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0Iβve often wondered if Iβm just not suited to sitting still kinda of meditation, and if motorcycle meditation is just as beneficial.
(Or possibly more beneficial? For me at least)
Yes!

Yes, Iβve read it 3x
I didnβt really understand it the first time, I thought I did the second time, but the 3rd time (when I was older) it finally made sense and I really appreciated it.
10 push ups if you use the front brake
I might use this next time I teach a class!
Yes!
But now how to manage the not travelling parts of life?
Yes!
And then I arrive at my destination but donβt want to stop riding.
Wow! Thatβs a long ride!
If you come back to Canada, and Alberta, the road between Lake Louise & Jasper is a must ride. Highway #93. Itβs called the Icefields Parkway. You can ride it in 3 hours but I suggest doubling that to stop and see the lakes, waterfalls & glaciersοΏΌ along the way.
We never spoke about this. By the time we got off our bikes and found food & lodging for the night, we just carried on with the eat, sleep, ride, repeat routine.
There was no need to talk about it. No one got hurt. It was just one moment, and now weβre on to the next moment.

Hereβs an example: 2 of us were riding on a tightly congested freeway. When vehicles in front of us stopped suddenly we both did an emergency stop, each of us pointing our front tire around the side of the car in front, ready to use an escape route if the car behind didnβt stop in time (it did tho!)
25.09.2025 15:54 β π 7 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0Iβm in a new place on unfamiliar roads and struggling to make of a foreign language, but Iβm not thinking about work, or things back at home as often. Iβm more removed from social media & TV, but I think itβs really about the sense of movement each day thatβs somehow soothing & satisfying.
25.09.2025 15:50 β π 8 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Thereβs a shift that happens on long #motorcycle trips. An internal shift. Something changes in my mindset.
After a week or two I get into the rhythm of eat, sleep, ride, repeat. Thereβs a slowing down in my mind and body. Worrying less and feeling closer to a state of #flow
#motosky - you too?

Iβve tried wearing wearing nitrile gloves under my moto gloves, but didnβt find that to be very helpful. This sounds like a better idea. Thanks!

Hereβs hoping my gear dries out before getting on the road again in the morning.

Love these mountains and feeling like Iβm top of the world.
Rolling fog reduced visibility but riding these switchbacks still had me gleefully grinning.
Thanks #motosky for telling me about this one.

Since being woken up by church bells seems standard in this part of the world, Iβm happy to hear oneβs that sound as nice as this.
Audio is better than visual - this is my barely awake, unsteady hand out the rooftop window.
