I might be wrong about all of this, but I just feel frustrated to see someone making an effort to learn something, and then getting such a backfire out of nowhere. Have more patience with those who are just starting.

I just hope to never jump into this kind of making someone's life miserable for no reason at all. Probably have done this accidentally, and probably will, but I'll try my best not to.

And it's very clear that THIS kind of unfamiliarity with the theories that the authors of those papers use to sustain their views is what drives her to most of her poor conclusions or binary arguments. This is totally different from spreading misinformation. This is the process of LEARNING.

Please criticize her for the actual wrong things she said. Like when she quotes the paper mentioning fetishization and doesn't understand that this word is being used according to a psychoanalyst approach. The paper is not calling the male viewers perverts, but the girl got it wrong.

That's no way to treat someone who seems interested in learning more. She read at least four papers to make that video. That's not something to take for granted.

It's just a small channel. I imagine that girl reading those papers (others don't), drawing her conclusion, writing a script, doing something she likes. Something completely harmless. Then her video gets ton of comments of people either being dumb or playing dumb while smearing her.

These people DON'T want to take responsibility for the hatred they end up spreading around others with these comments. Fine if you disagree with the video. I do too at many times. But that's not how to do it.

Disagreeing with her interpretation and line of though is completely different from calling her an American who makes videos based on the few anime shows they have watched. She has a poor interpretation of those papers at many times... but that's a different discussion.

"Citing 4 papers doesn't mean she can talk shit" sure, but the video is literally she just citing papers without strawing away from them. If there's any big shit, it's in these papers. C'mon. Watch the video, read the papers. You sure haven't done any of these, at least not paying attention.

All their complaints are either misinterpretations of what she said or trying to debunk the papers she is quoting. lol

They claimed she said something which was also taken in its literality from the paper. How is quoting a paper in its whole "spreading misinformation"? Using vitriol under the guise of "misinformation" accusations IS accusing someone of being baseless. She is not baseless. You didn't read the paper.

Now I was accused of "choosing the weakest argument" as a straw man to defend an youtuber I don't even know. They say they are countering her "poor arguments," which were taken straight from academic papers. They misinterpet her lines and call it "disinformation" to say she is wrong.

but if discouraged bpd is ashamed, they're prone to hiding or lying to therapist or psychiatrics, which makes matters worse. so doctors might not always be at fault here

I've read that BPD responds very well to treatment, perhaps more than other Cluster B PDs. mild BPD might even overcome symptons. but the patient needs to get proper BPD-focused therapy and make a lot of active self-work.

I guess need things to make some sense to move on and I feel this is making a lot of sense for me rn. it wasn't making any sense when I thought about it, but now I see how it could make sense. unfortunately, if this is true it means she's currently misdiagnosed (as I always suspected)

what surprises me most is that BPD patients behave like children when it comes to relationships but can be very high-functioning in other areas of life if their PD is mild. especially discouraged/quiet BPD. I think this nails it down almost too perfectly. but still not my job to give diagnoses.

some papers I've read also suggest that overfocusing on entertainment as escapism and sometimes even as role models is very very common

yeah after searching a lot, I think Quiet BPD would make a lot of sense. I think considering the possibility helps me deal with things a bit better
