Attacks on health workers and hospitals not only endanger the safety of healthcare workers — they cut off or limit communities from accessing the care they need.

MSF strongly condemns these attacks and calls for medical facilities to be protected at all times.

This is the fourth attack affecting MSF in seven months. Ongoing violence has forced the closure of two MSF-run hospitals, while our teams have been forced to reduce services in some other areas due to insecurity.

On July 25, two armed men stopped an MSF ambulance in #SouthSudan and abducted a Ministry of Health staff member who was escorting a patient. Although she was released July 26, this incident highlights the violence on healthcare workers in South Sudan.

The ongoing blockade and the dangerous and disorganized practices of providing the bare minimum of food to starving people are fuelling desperation and internal violence, while placing an unbearable burden on Gaza’s collapsing health system.

The Ministry of Health and nearby hospitals are overwhelmed. Most trauma cases require major surgeries for limb and abdominal injuries.

We have no stock of external fixators to heal broken bones and we are running out of other supplies, including blood and critical antibiotics.

Al Zawaida field hospital in Deir Al Balah is over capacity, with no space for new patients.

Within three weeks, the field hospital increased its bed capacity from 70 to 115 beds, but this still doesn’t come close to meeting the massive medical needs.

Fifty-four people suffered gunshot wounds, crush injuries and stabbings while scrambling for aid.

Dangerous “aid points” that distribute tiny quantities of supplies are causing death and injury and are draining exhausted medical teams.

#Gaza: On July 27 and 28, MSF-supported clinics treated hundreds of people injured at food distribution sites and from ongoing attacks.

On July 27, medical teams at the MSF-supported Sheikh Radwan clinic treated over 150 patients from five different mass casualty incidents.

After another missed opportunity to end EU complicity with Israel, we reiterate our call on the EU to turn its words into actions and to end its double standards. Every state has a moral and legal responsibility to recognize and stop the ongoing atrocities in Gaza.

Once again, the EU demonstrated hypocrisy and shocking double standards when it comes to protecting civilians and ensuring the respect of International Humanitarian Law.

The human carnage and starvation of Palestinians in Gaza are deliberate. Humanitarian aid is weaponized and blocked. Healthcare services are targeted daily.

On July 15, the Foreign Affairs Council showed yet another sign of the unwillingness to exert pressure on Israel to stop the genocide in Gaza.

Yet, amid EU member states inaction, orchestrated ethnic cleansing in Gaza continues.

Meanwhile, over 60,000 Palestinians have been killed including 12 colleagues, the last of whom was shot while trying to collect a bag of flour on July 3.
