which is a bit different to how honeybees will survive the winter on their own honey reserves, except males bc they just exist to breed with the queen so in winter they.. get kicked out to die 😅bc they dont help contribute

if any1 is curious: wasp nests last one summer season then die off completely in cold weather :) its why nest removal isnt too important to me: they won't reuse it next summer. the entire colony (including female workers) will die and the queen hibernates someplace hidden and warm

id really rather they die outside </3 those poor babies. at glance they looked like mostly if not all men LOL so they probably snuck in for the warmth :') but starved. this is a natural part of their cycle i just wish they had a better resting place than inside a laundry room lol

anyway so then i looked around, saw one alive trapped in a window. open it up. oh.

+ and eventually, with some prodding, got him to the door and outside. then i noticed two more male wasps on the glass of the laundry room door. got them out (Btw u can tell bc they have really long antennae and they literally cant sting, so harmless babies)

there was a male yellowjacket in the laundry room and i was like aw man, id rather this buddy die off in the cold weather where his body will naturally slow down and pass than starve to death in a humid room. so naturally, as one does, I got an extendable duster stick to pick him off the window +
