It'll always blow my mind that art like this was put into an official #Promare artbook. Like, Trigger knew EXACTLY what they were doing when they designed Lio Fotia; but then again I could've guessed that already, considering he gets captured & handcuffed 3 times in that movie. 😆

I’m thrilled for the homestuck renaissance that this is sure to spark, but I also have mixed feelings about all this in part due to the unofficial hs collection that got shut down by hussie, and all the drama surrounding that

There’s a million more reasons I have doubts about this pilot (and series, presumably, if they intend on pursuing this further). I have literally been talking the ear off of anyone who will listen. The animation looks good. I WANT it to be good. But I am SO HESITANT to be optimistic about it.

third, there are so many bits that I feel won’t work quite the same (ex. Hella Jeff and Sweet Bro), not to mention all the shit that happens when it breaks the third wall and the comic itself starts glitching and whatnot

-such as having full sections in Morse code, and it being up to you, the reader, to translate it).

second, homestuck is INCREDIBLY dialogue heavy. there’s entire portions of it that are just long walls of text. Not to mention all of the immersive stuff they do with the text (aka doc scratch and other stuff with the felt), not to mention all the shit they do that interacts with the audience-

first off, homestuck is structured like a video game. there are whole sections of it that YOU PLAY as a video game. I feel like bringing it to animation erases that whole aspect of its charm.

the animation looks good. the music has always been good. (If it’s one thing Homestuck does right, it’s music.) but I have so many doubts bc there are SO many things that I fear won’t translate well in animation

-impossible to ignore how iconic it is, and how important it is to a lot of people, myself included. That being said, here are my thoughts on the upcoming pilot:

let me preface this by saying I WANT it to be good. Regardless of your thoughts on Viv and Hazbin/Helluva, I think we can all at least agree that spindlehorse, as an indie animation studio, is definitely capable of some beautiful animation. And regardless of your thoughts on Homestuck, it’s-
