im still leaning toward semi guided container missile swarm (see the large ass antenna on the second officer)

and the ship is just a medium convertible container ship-freighter

it caaaan be argued they can strap some mining gun if they are bored

at bare minimum, ani is a second mate/second officer

its pretty much a name card + mandatory health tracker, other non synthetic crew would have that in whatever form they comfortable to wear for prolong time,

mostly its on the form of a smart wear (integrated suit or just plain smartwatch)

Also ani's collar can be used just as a name card, showing his name and rank instead of diagnostics
