I am the governor of Delaware, but I am a public school parent first. And we should all expect our government – at every level – to work for us and our kids.

Dedicated public servants have worked hard to salt roads and sidewalks, and we continue to thank them for their service. But that's also meant a week of lost instruction time for students.

To every parent and family: please know the State of Delaware is doing everything possible through the weekend to ensure schools are open on Monday morning. Delaware was coated in more snow and ice than at any time in the last decade.

I've also personally spoken with each New Castle County superintendent and received lists of roads, sidewalks and bus stops that remain unsafe. DelDOT is clearing them this weekend.

DelDOT is working with school districts to clear roads, sidewalks, and bus stops, no matter where they are, something that hasn't been done in recent history.

It is unacceptable that schools remain closed a week after the last snowflake fell in Delaware. I have spent the last several days directing state agencies to do everything possible to get our kids back in school.

The state of our state is strong.

Delaware is moving forward by focusing on what matters most right now: affordability, opportunity, and a future that works for working families.

Please continue to use caution, limit travel if you can, and follow guidance from state and local officials. Stay safe, Delaware.

🚨 Update on Driving Restrictions 🚨

Starting at 10 a.m., driving restrictions are downgraded to Level 1 in New Castle County and Kent County, and lifted entirely in Sussex County.

🚨 Level 2 Driving Restrictions begin at 10 a.m.
Travel will be limited to emergency workers, public utilities, health care providers, snow removal operations, food and fuel deliveries, and those with approved waivers.

Please stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary. Your safety comes first.

Please prepare while you can, avoid being on the roads once the storm begins, and listen to your state and local officials for the latest information and safety warnings, including the Delaware Emergency Management Agency.

Together, let’s make sure every Delawarean stays safe and warm this weekend.

Today is a reminder of what was lost, and of our responsibility to keep fighting for what every woman deserves: freedom, safety, and respect.

Here in Delaware, I want to be clear. I will always stand up for a woman’s right to choose. I will always work to protect access to reproductive health care. And I will always believe that these decisions belong to women and their doctors.

In the years since, that promise has been steadily dismantled. Across the country, women’s rights have come under attack, creating fear, uncertainty, and harm for families who deserve compassion and care, not political interference.

On the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, we remember a moment that affirmed a fundamental truth: women deserve autonomy, dignity, and the freedom to make deeply personal decisions about their own bodies.

Delaware will always be a place that welcomes those who want to build a better life. We will protect our communities, speak out when we see wrongdoing, and stand together against hate. Peaceful protest is patriotic and silence is not an option.

No hate. No fear. Immigrants are welcome here.

The killing of Renee Good yesterday in Minneapolis was a senseless tragedy that could have and should have been prevented.

We hold the Snook family and the entire Delaware State Police family in our thoughts during this time of profound loss. Corporal Snook’s service and sacrifice will not be forgotten.

Beyond his service, Ty was a devoted husband and father. His life was guided by responsibility, care for others, and love for his family.

Delaware put a hero to rest.

For more than a decade, Corporal Snook served our state with integrity, professionalism, and steadfast commitment. He stood watch over our community with quiet resolve, answering the call to protect and serve, even when it required the ultimate sacrifice.

Because one of the things I learned as a diplomat in Iraq is it is very, very difficult and very, very costly to try and run a foreign country from Washington.
