For something lighter at a very heavy time... Dodge rental car in California shows distance in miles, but fuel economy in km/l & I can't figure out how to change it. Luckily, the formula is pretty easy... Km/l * 2.33 is close to mpg and easy to calculate. We now return you to doomscrolling.

I've heard that rumor, but facts are in short supply.

I hope NSF and American science broadly can survive the next few years... The US is giving away decades of leadership in a fit of pique, and it will take decades to recover if ever.

Yesterday was my last day at NSF after more than a decade of service. I'll miss supporting and guiding the cybersecurity research community, and my excellent coworkers.

Epaulets ripped off, a final trip down the Navy Steps, and I'm now a former White House employee. On to the next phase of my never-in-a-straight-line career. If someone told me at 18 that my career would lead me here, I would never have believed it.

Once in a lifetime visit to the WH to see Christmas decorations. Not a menorah/hannukiyah in sight, though. Guess the Second Gentleman didn't have a role in decorations.

I find a ream of paper works well for said purpose, and doesn't have splinters. Hypothetically speaking, of course.
