He talks about how we can't generate wonder because it lives outside us; it lives in the space between us and the excess of the other, and I found that to be a beautiful articulation of how mutuality works. Later he says this gem, too, and it tied the excess of the other, of God, of creation to their generosity toward us: "The church is aiming at wonder. But what makes wonder possible is generosity."
