Het ministerie van Landbouw, Visserij Voedselzekerheid en Natuur (LVVN) wil vernieuwde landelijke doelen vaststellen voor habitattypen en soorten die met het Natura 2000-netwerk worden beschermd. Ze wil deze doelen inperken tot wat minimaal nodig is om te kunnen voldoen aan de verplichtingen van de Vogel- en Habitatrichtlijn (VHR). Met deze insteek gaat het Nederland niet lukken het verlies van biodiversiteit te stoppen, laat staan ongedaan te maken zoals is afgesproken op de internationale Biodiversiteitsconventie CBD.
Kan de overheid nóg meer doen om de noodzakelijke maatregelen voor #natuurherstel te traineren?
Jazeker, dat kan: proberen de #Natura2000 doelen af te zwakken.

This clearly shows that much the West-Antarctic Ice Sheet is below sea level.
That's why it melts rapidly in a warmer climate, like it did ~120,000 years ago during the Eemian interglacial.
