Very relatable. My number 1 reason for going to UWMadison was the weather & Lake Michigan.

Art is the greatest form of human expression imaginable. I wouldn't dare dream a life without it in abundance.

I’ve been watching Alysa Liu’s performance since she was 13, and I love that she’s found her style, her joy, an inner quiet that lets her truly live the art of figure skating. 🐐

Cambridge Screens

Made a tiny website that pulls showtimes from 3 art house theaters in Cambridge. My friends and I used to sneak off to these places during our first PhD year. Some of the best days I had. We've since scattered, but I hope someone catches something good: elisaxchen.github.io/cambridge-sc...

The ILWU (longshore and warehouse) was one of the first labor unions to integrate undocumented workers from Central America in the 1980s, and openly oppose Salvadoran military dictatorships

To suggest they “just became woke” is a profound insult to the organizers and workers who built that history

List of Minnesota businesses closing for Jan. 23 anti-ICE strike First announced by faith leaders and unions on Jan. 13, Minnesota businesses have begun announcing plans to join the action.

1000+ Minnesota small businesses joined hands with faith communities, labor unions, community orgs.. to support Friday's general strike.

It was a risky, costly, & powerfully helpful choice. They supported me in the breach and I will support them.

When I was an undergrad writing my senior thesis I had the exact same question. Reading other people’s undergrad senior thesis helped a lot to set the standards and boosted my confidence. In my school, they are all public record in the department.

Summers called this female Chinese economist “peril.”

“Yellow peril” was partially built on the claim that Chinese women were sexually immoral threats.

That logic fueled the Page Act of 1875, which barred Chinese women by presuming they were prostitutes, even before the 1882 Chinese Exclusion Act.

For Women in Economics, the Hostility Is Out in the Open (Published 2021)

1/ Egalitarianism should begin at home. I link to this article by @bencasselman.bsky.social in light of the communications between Larry Summers and Jeffrey Epstein that have just been released. The released emails and the fact of friendship are vile.

So excited to share new work with
@emileigharrison.bsky.social about the presence and portrayal of topics, values, and identities in U.S. textbooks!

What we teach in our curricula is more similar across our country than political narratives might have us believe.

In Its Expectations for the Economy, AI Is Surprisingly Human AI, designed to mimic the appearance of human reasoning, also forms predictions about the economy in human-like ways.
