This is actually the nut of it: Leadership (elected or otherwise) is not about YOU - it's about your goals and your team. It's about *them.*

Too many have forgotten that.

keep in mind that the cruel people who either find joy in harming others or don't mind harming others to get advantages for themselves are just very loud but they are still in the minority, most people are kind but they are not loud about it and often lack the power to help as much as they'd like

You are smarter & more effective than your trauma conditioning is letting you believe. The voices of your bullies & abusers are lying to you.

Focus in on the image & vibe of who you're becoming-- not who they want you to believe you "have to" be.

Remember: anyone's insistence that what you did go through or what you are going through "isn't that bad" has exactly zero to do w/ how bad something actually is for you, or what you need to manage it.

Your lived experience in the arena trumps their view from the cheap seats.

All Pottery supplies from clay and glazes to wheels and kilns. Pottery can already be an expensive craft, and (at least based on my personal life) it’s really popular right now. With the tariffs, I’m worried that newly opened studios & small businesses will close, & so too the pottery boom.

You're allowed to feel positive things without shame.

Feeling good does not invalidate your trauma. It does not mean "it wasn't that bad" or that you've been "faking" your symptoms or struggles-- nor does it mean you've "forgiven" your abusers or you're "over" the past.

Many things are bad, but if something good happens to you, I want you to celebrate it. Tell yourself affirmations, compliments, and encouragement. It makes a huge difference, especially over time.

I’m excited to announce that I’m putting my candidacy forward for Pope. I don’t meet any of the qualifications—literally none of them—which means I’m highly competitive for the position in this era of rewarded mediocrity.

If you have the means, treat yourself like a beloved friend. Be generous to yourself. Take yourself on adventures. Give yourself little gifts, like a favorite pastry or a favorite meal. Compliment yourself. Make yourself laugh.

I joined my New Jersey Democratic congressional colleagues to call out NOAA cuts ahead of hurricane season. These budget and staffing slashes prevent @noaa.gov from meeting its mission to protect public safety, marine research, and coastal resilience.

Young people SHOULD “have it easier” than you did. I’m sorry you got the strap up hill both ways and paid your debts with pounds of flesh, but the reason we work for progress is to make growing up and growing old gentler, easier, kinder, freer. Struggle isn’t necessary in a healthy society.

A very common challenge for survivors & addicts in recovery is not blowing up a situation, such as a job or relationship, because we're feeling anxious or because Trauma Brain or the Addict Beast is going hard on us about how we're going to f*ck it all up if we don't act first.
