#LinguisticLandscape Graz, Austria (a takeaway near the university hospital)
It was a pleasure to host the first in-person meeting of the DACH Regional Group of the ICLHE Association in Graz with Petra Kletzenbauer. Now we're all looking forward to the ICLHE Symposium in Winterthur (15-16 Oct 2026). The call is still open: www.iclhe.org/conferences-...

That's great to hear, thank you!
Judit Dombi (University of Pécs) and I compared our student teachers' Extramural English use and their plans for teaching English as a global language and found many similarities and some differences. Our paper has just been published in ExELL: doi.org/10.51558/230...
Always nice to receive a physical copy of a paper 😊 "Research for change: Collaborative reflexivity as a means to promote professional growth in ICLHE" (with Margit Reitbauer, Petra Kletzenbauer) is out now in Bulletin suisse die linguistique appliquée DOI 10.26034/ne.vals.2025.8873Research
I'm honoured to have been a part of the first doctoral school of the International Association for the Psychology of Language Learning (IAPLL). I enjoyed spending time with the participants and hope that our paths will cross again in the future.
First snow of the year on my Erasmus visit to the University of Pardubice to discuss a new partnership. Thank you to the English Department for hosting me in their offices on the 13th floor 😊
Thank you for inviting me to talk to students in the Master's programme at kphvie.ac.at and for the shout-out to derlinguin.uni-graz.at 🐧

When a reading project becomes a writing project: The Library of Lost Books was written by a group of 14-year-old students and their English teacher Heidrun Lang-Heran at Körösi secondary school here in Graz. I managed to get my copy signed by most of the authors, and I can't wait to start reading!
Thank you, Nayr! It's a brilliant activity.
Inspired by @nayr2.bsky.social a group of Austrian student teachers of English created their own DLC artefacts today. We all loved the results!

What do we miss about someone when we only know them in one language? If you’ve never heard someone in the language that holds their memories, humor, and sense of home—you may not have met all of them yet. www.kevin-m-wong.com/blog/2025/4/...
As always, there were lots of interesting talks and workshops at IATEFL, but I particularly enjoyed this format because it allowed a thoughtful, thorough exploration of the topic. I would love to see more such sessions at #IATEFL2026 🙂
If you want to see #IATEFL2025 through the eyes of student teachers, our group from the University of Graz did a wonderful job documenting their experiences on Instagram: @leap_interface. For most of them, it was their first IATEFL conference 😊 but I think we'll see them at IATEFL again!
The week went by so fast! Edinburgh was a wonderful host city for #IATEFL2025
Sounds familiar what Ken Lackman is suggesting here, just like #ReallyRealGrammar #iatefl2025
Jon Hird sharing some practical ideas to integrate spoken grammar in our teaching. #IATEFL2025
Luiz Otavio Barros encouraging us to ‘get dirty with language’ in his talk on Demand High teaching #IATEFL2025
Fabulous and engaging plenary by Neil McMillan on task-based language teaching (TBLT) at #IATEFL2025. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Online formats seem to work really well for some events, and today's online conference on "Materials Development in Foreign/Second Language Teacher Education" @uni-wuppertal.bsky.social was one such case. Looking forward to seeing what this new network does next! #MaterialDevelopingTeachers
Since @bsky.app has a butterfly logo, @quothalinguist.bsky.social has suggested calling posts flutters. I like it. #flutter #bluesky
Don’t miss the chance to present at the ATEE Conference 2025 in Dublin. The theme is “The Making of Authentic Teachers in Ages of Artificiality?” #CfP now open. All shares appreciated!
