This is absolute bs. Her business is in a really sweet neighborhood. People are constantly walking their dogs to grab coffee and a pastry from her business. There are multiple schools near her, beloved other local restaurants, etc. What the heck is she talking about?

Meta is “disappearing” anti-genocide accounts, and I hate it so much!

🤣 Resonates. Sometimes me just sending a link to my partner and expecting him to figure it out. Then me later: hey did you sign that thing?

Jewish people taught me Zionism is not Judaism. It’s wild to see Jewish folks defend a genocidal, apartheid state when SO MANY anti-Xio Jewish scholars, rabbi, leaders are in front for anti-apartheid, Pal liberation. I’ve learned from many beloved Jewish thinkers and friends. But hey, you do you.

Trying to get off Instagram because of censorship and Xios, but I have a really amazing community there. What do y’all like about this app vs Instagram?

A Debt of Gratitude
Joon Ae Haworth-Kaufka writes about grief, empathy, and bubble tea.
It is such an honor to hold this space for my friend Tamara in Gaza and for my fellow Korean adoptees. Love and solidarity!

My first-ever published poem was also the most emotionally vulnerable writing I've ever put onto a page. Thank you Blue Earth Review for selecting "post- and pre-" as the 2024 Minnesota BIPOC Emerging Writer Award runner-up in poetry! #adopteevoices

Lol, realizing this is a really creepy thing to say in the context of your post! 😆 I meant to express understanding and solidarity, not to creep your space like your adopters!

Adopting someone else's baby, as something you actually want and actively seek out, is just really weird if you think about it. Like, those people who say shit like, "Since I was a child, I wanted to adopt." Weird. Ew. Omg, wtf?

a pro-family-preservation politics that is not strongly pro-abortion makes no sense to me. And I reject a politics that calls itself “pro-family” but is not strongly pro-family-preservation.

I gave my heart and soul to public education for over 10 years, and the public service loan forgiveness eliminated my student loan debt. I want this freedom for everyone!

I grew up in a family culture that didn't value education, escaped, moved across the country, and got college 3 degrees that changed my life. Being working class w/no support from my adopters, I did it w/loans and working a ton. I ended up w $168K of student loan debt though I borrowed around $80k.

For those who've been away from BlueSky for a few days and are trying to figure out what the hell happened, here's the recent event that sparked the ongoing protest, and you can read about everything that led up to it earlier on Aveta's thread.

agree the terminology needs work but the idea is to only post about the issue until the issue is sufficiently acknowledged and resolved. and imo that makes sense.

The idea that content moderation is the last refuge of fragile people rests on the confused idea that speech is “just words,” and it shifts the moral onus from the racists and bigots who target others for abuse and onto those targeted. This isn’t centrism, it’s reactionary.

I didn't know the term false equivalency back then, but that's why I stopped watching it. They're like, we make fun of everyone! We're above it all! The right and the left are both equally bad! We're so smart! Ugh...the supremacy of it all.

I thought South Park was so funny when I was 21, when it first came out. I remember watching it with a boyfriend and thinking it was so funny, but as time went on, I was like: Wait. What? And I ended up hating it.
