Snag/Slants . Snag/Sluggo

Play later in game. Drive 8 Play 2. Snag/Sluggo. Huskers run Snag/Slants 4 times (& a few times @ USC) this time DH has WR18 run a Sluggo route. A fake slant for CB to bite then vertical Go route. It works to create space. QB15 hits WR18 but just couldn’t come down w/ it.

Snag/Slants is a combo of Snag (Flat, Snag Route, Corner) & Dbl Slants. Snag puts stress on a defender, usually the flat defender. Slants is a quick hitting man-beater. Ran 5 times. 2 were completed, which isn’t great but I’d like to focus on a variation called late in the game

Gonna talk Snag/Slants. Which looks like the below play, which DH eventually calls a play that should have been a TD w/ a variation of it. It’s something that is a new staple in the DH offense. Incoming 🧵

One of the things the reason this is working. QB15 is getting the ball out of his hands. Hes being more decisive with the ball and not spending so much time going (rushing) through progressions as he had the last few games

Ultimately things might get better, but there may need to be some growth that needs to occur…

Sequencing-It didn’t happen as much as I thought. We never made defenses pay for keying on certain things.
Predictability-the offense was predictable. So much so that Ds keying on things were right.

Mainly, I want the offense to MAKE defenses wrong. Can Holgo do it?

Things I’m looking for from the offense w/ Holgo calling plays for #Huskers:
Run game-how different will it look? Will we do more out of 11p? More or less diverse outside of the DUO & IZ?
Red zone-just want to see something different than fade in the EZ tbh…

How interesting this game will be huh? New guy calling the plays & it’s Dana Holorsen. My interest is piqued!
