I have been around long enough to see many pet projects, when the best ideas, like making the financial aid office and system work better, are too boring. A provost once announced they were starting a PhD in medieval studies that the history department didn't want and wasn't asked about.

I know there's a lot happening today, but this is sneaking in under the radar. This proposed new rule would absolutely crush foreign PhD students, potentially making it impossible for them to enroll with any certainty of their ability to finish www.politico.com/news/2025/08...

Attention working-class Americans:

Republicans’ new budget does NOT include no tax on tips, no tax on overtime, or no tax on Social Security.

Instead it protects tax handouts for billionaires and makes way for the largest Medicaid cut in history.

My guess is that they are basically the same. I think they were trying to write a dessert recipe for the Fritos cookbook and this was the best they could do.

Here you go! The prune whip is surprisingly good. I was hoping the salt and crunch from the Fritos would do more, but they were meh. Something like salted pecans would be better.
