This is such a Frey / All of Mpls tactic. They seem to do this kind of closed door pushback with everything emergent that tries to take care of people, from behavioral crisis response to violence prevention to city civil rights work. I don’t know of any prominent exceptions, really.

It’s hard to see how homelessness isn’t city policy at this point.
The cops haven’t been near enough to ICE in the last 3 months to see them hurt anyone but they’re rounding up homeless people the day before Frey vetoes the eviction pause.
We need reparations for ICE victims.
Anything short of that is setting the stage for a massive wealth grab from people of color that will re-entrench racial disparities for generations.
That’s been happening for months already. At a scale that boggles the mind. Donations are waning and the need continues to grow. It’d be nice if the mayor wanted to help, but he doesn’t.

His office consolidated power after 2020 and has used to veto literally every protective measure and good policy out forward by the council that previously would have been able to pass without him. Jacob Frey takes pleasure in destroying the lives of unhoused neighbors and protecting elites.
For anyone outside Minnesota who saw this man up on television giving interviews to pitch himself for a national stage in politics… listen to what locals were telling you when this man is a monster who takes pleasure in harming others while he dines with rich Republican donors. Do not trust Frey.
