Text based games. Acorn Electron, BBC Micro, Commodore 64 and much more! Overwhelmed by the horrors of this wretched world, so I hide in my fantasy retro corner.

A final batch of "Minesnake" tapes is now up on the store:

sharpworks.onlineweb.shop

The game works also on the MZ-700 & MZ-80K (and there is a special 'MZ-700' speed option in the menu) and features an exclusive (to this final batch) loading screen. 82% score from Retrogamer :)

Rear of my Commodore Trinity stack showing the cabling, PSUs and plugs. Front view of my Commodore Trinity stack. The custom made unit is a raked and tiered rack that holds 3 Commodore computers with 3 small monitors on the top. Unit is made from stained hardwood ply and finished off with chrome car bumper trim.

Now EVERY wire is shortened and terminated with 90 degree connectors. This Commodore Trinity stack is for retro gaming events etc.

I feel cleansed. The whole lot is powered by a single mains plug.
#Commodore64 #C16 #CommodoreVIC20

(I know I've connected two monitors on the wrong computers)

Photo of front of my 2000 Yaris car. Showing my newly amber tinted indicators. Photo of rear of my 2000 Yaris car. Showing my newly amber tinted indicators.

So I have this weird "thing" where I really dislike non-amber indicators on cars. So I decided to tint my indicator lenses amber, as God intended.

Just spent a couple of hours undoing my old Game Boy bivert mod to fit an IPS screen. Needed a couple of bodge wires to fix the previous mod but it was well worth the effort. (It is centred, despite the photo)

I love it too Colin. It contrasts rather with the anthracite colour of the C16 tho!

A photo of my yellow 62-in-1 Commodore C16 games cartridge. The cartridge is banana flavoured despite the official colour being Mango Yellow. I speak da truth innit. Photo of the naked 62-in-1 games cartridge PCB, as supplied from a fab person in Australia. The ROM chip is 1MB.

I ordered a #Commodore #C16 62-in-1 cartridge PCB from Australia. My twin brother 3D printed a cartridge housing for me. My brother said; "The filament in my printer is mango yellow, is that okay?"... YES!!!!!

An Official Advanced Dungeons & Dragons computer product. The classic 2nd Edition D&D, released... A couple of years earlier, if I remember correctly? Eye of the Beholder, a Legend Series Fantasy Role-Playing Saga Vol 1 A screenshot of the gameplay with four party members portraits and what's in their hands to attack with. An old school kobold with a curved dagger menaces the party ahead in the red brick sewers Ariel here, no doubt named after the mermaid by whoever created them caused of her long red hair, has 18/77 strength and 18 constitution. Be still my gymrat heart 🥵

An epic AD&D adventure beneath Waterdeep begins, in this case on Amiga 600 and under the crisp benevolence of RGB SCART.

Eye of the Beholder from Westwood Associates and SSI.

This is the party that's saved on the WHDload I'm using, and all I can say is tall strong red-haired elf lady 🥵

Wooden rack that houses 3 commodore computers in a vertical and raked format. Also supports 3x 8" monitors at the top. Rack is finished with chrome trim on all the visible edges.

Completed my wooden rack for the #Commodore trinity. Internally mounted socket strip means whole lot powered by 1 plug. Used chrome car trim to finish off the edges.
#Commodore64, #C16 and #VIC20.

Snake & Snake, a cool Snake-variant where you shoot other snakes to make them smaller, so you can eat them. Man Hunt, fun but brutally difficult game where you have to clear every bit of yellow off the screen while avoiding the monsters. Super Puckman, a competent Pac Man clone. Circus Star, a neat little arcade game where you control an acrobat and a trampoline. Keep him in the air while trying to pop balloons.

Testing one of the Sharp MZ tapes I got from @sharpworks.bsky.social . These games were shipped with new Sharp MZ-700 machines back in the early eighties.

I wired in a switch to my #BBCMicro's composite video output. It switches between monochrome and colour. Means I can still have laser-sharp 80 column text on my green phosphor CRT when required.
The switch is mounted in an existing but unused hole on the back of the computer, so I'm well chuffed.

I think it's the CRT scanlines that makes MODE 2+5 acceptable, compared to LCDs.

Yes indeed. MODE 2+5 have always looked horrid on LCDs, but always a squajillion times better on a CRT. The weird aspect ratio of the pixels never looked bad on a CRT.

Any Lemmings fans sailing through BlueSkies? Released 33 years ago yesterday and is still pretty timeless fun today.

Developed by DMA Design who would eventually morph into Rockstar North, aka the Grand Theft Auto peeps.
