Yea.. to be frank, it would not surprise me in the least if some of those refuelers are actually bombers flying under different registrations, but that's a WILD guess. I'm not familiar with adsbexchange or standard operating procedure for US Air Force. I did notice a couple planes weren't squaking.

Then also filter by "military" under DB flags. You'll get a more accurate picture of what the US Air Force is flying right now. I'm also going to try just the DB flag to get a better look.

#1 is most likely. However, I could easily see #2 considering Israel only operates 7 aerial refulers. Considering not all planes are operational at once and the IDF's fighters requiring at least 1 if not 2 refuels each way they are REALLY stretching themselves thin to keep up this attack this long.

I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that we're bombing Iran just yet. There are two more likely explanations for these aircraft.
1) Cargo planes replenishing Patriot and THAAD batteries.
2) Deploying refuelers to the middle east to increase air defense sorties or help Israel increase bombing sorties.

You're thinking of Landing Helicopter Assault (LHA) ships like the America-class carriers or Landing Helicopter Docks (LHD) like the Wasp-class carriers. Those have well decks that allow for LCAC's AAV'S or various other landing crafts.

Although aircraft carriers like CV78 DO NOT carry another vessel, but could fit a CB-90 inside of it if you REALLY tried, it's a ship. Fun fact, submarines are technically ships, hence U.S.S. (United States Ship) designation. However are still called boats because they used to be small.

Okay, so I looked this up at the US Naval Institute, and now I understand the context. Boats are small and ships are big. As a rule of thumb, if it can fit another vessel in it, it's a ship. If it can't, then it's a boat.
