Absolute ghost town at 3:30 in the morning. The purple lights make it even more creepy. The only reason these new street lights are this color is due to LED manufacturing defects. They're not meant to be this color. They're popping up everywhere!

Man, I actually have to go to bed at a normal hour tonight. I'd really like to livestream but I have to drive my mom to the airport super early in the morning.

One of the problems is the video card is super old but I need it for s-video out to connect to the CRT. I've had issues trying to use the card with Windows 10. If I get anything newer I'd need a video converter and those have lag.

It felt like it had something to do with Journey into Imagination but I wasn't sure. Yeah I don't remember that dragon at all.

Ya know, I'd totally try those! 🤔

Thankfully I kept the original hard drive so if this upgrade fails I can just put the old drive back in and just leave it the way it was and never be able to change anything on this PC.

The hardware in my mame cabinet is old but it can still run the games because they're not that demanding. I just want to do a fresh reinstall of everything and it's like 2026 is not letting me do the stuff I did in 2010. Windows 7 activation, hunting down drivers, getting it to work with the CRT. 😫

Im attempting to update my MAME arcade cabinet to the latest version but I haven't touched anything inside in 16 years. I was going to install a new loaded ROM drive and reinstall Windows 7 just the way it was when I built it because of the old hardware but you can't activate 7 at all anymore. Ahh!

This stupid joke came to me in a dream last night. It was like I was watching it on a TV or something. It looked and sounded pretty much like this. I woke up laughing. I had to make it. Everybody wants to send live rats though the phone line right?

I have folders of so much random junk that I have made over the years. Mostly inside jokes and nonsense. I vaguely remember making this almost 20 years ago and I have absolutely no clue what it was for.

Oh I have no idea. If I did get one it would be something cheap and busted that I'd need to fix myself. That's the only way I get cool stuff.

The quickest and cheapest way to hook a Laserdisc player to a modern TV would be a composite to HDMI adapter. In my setup my modern stereo receiver still has composite inputs that it can upscale and output via HDMI to the TV.

Also Laserdiscs aren't really purely digital which is crazy. The video itself is stored on the disc as a frequency modulated signal yet the audio tracks on the disc can be totally digital. 🤔

Yeah! LD has more lines of resolution than VHS but it didn't matter if the master source was crap. There is the rare occasion where the LD had a better master source than a later DVD release.

Despite it being a Criterion Collection release and being on Laserdisc, the picture quality wasn't great but by 1990 standards it was. Even though an original negative was scanned, at that time it was still being recorded unrestored to an analog tape to be used as a laserdisc master source.

Another movie I've been meaning to watch is Hitchcock's Notorious. Aside from the typical 40s instantly falling in love cliché it was really good. The first 15 - 20 minutes are kinda meh but then it gets going.

Watched Solarbabies on laserdisc tonight. This is another movie I haven't seen in decades. I remember watching this back in the 80s when I was a little kid and just being really confused by it. Huh, it's about fighting authoritarianism, IMAGINE THAT! 🥲

My album of the week is FM - Black Noise. A great prog rock album that likes to get a bit pop at times. Amazing synth and guitar solos. I love track 3 'Hours' which is out of this world. Rush ain't the only prog rock band from Toronto!
