09.03.2025 22:33 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Glad I'm not the only one! I get up and walk out, or turn the volume down, change channels ... Anything! Really really don't want to hear this disaster. Feel as though I'm playing ostrich, but there's nothing I can do except hope somehow it ends before too much damage is done. Poor Ukraine 😢

Journo: You're voting for Trump?
Importer: Yes
Journo: There will be tariffs imposed
Importer: That's good, we need that
Journo: Your carpets will cost more.
Importer: .....
I wonder if he did still vote Trump
Yep and Yep. Fully agree!

Microplastics are everywhere—including inside us. And that's not awesome, given that new research in mice finds they can mess up blood flow in the brain. That and more of the best from @science.org and science in this edition of #ScienceAdviser: www.science.org/content/arti... 🧪

I began with Carroll's layout but was frustrated cos it didn't suit; & I can't do fancy. Miller's take is, do it the way that suits you!

(n.)
- A blockhead; a fool; a simpleton; a numpty; a ninnyhammer.
Used in sentence:
“Jim the janitor always kept to himself, never made a fuss, the type of guy everyone assumed to be a hoddypeak; how he managed to walk out of the bank with all that money remains a mystery.”
Had to think about that! 🤣

After that I applied for many many jobs and the only responses I got were two employers wanting to know my age!! Wishing you all the best in the job search
23.11.2023 10:23 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0The picture shows a small figure of a bird with a extended neck, pointed beak, wings close to the body.
An Ice Age masterpiece: the oldest known representation of a bird.
The small carving (4.7cm) of a water bird was made from mammoth ivory some 40,000 years ago. It's thought to be a diver, cormorant, or duck.
Found in the Hohle Fels cave on the Swabian Jura.

It is apparently National Coming Out Day. So, a reminder:
You don't owe anyone your coming out. Not even if the only reason you don't want to come out is that you're a very private person. Not even if you're a celebrity.
I hope you're safe. I hope you're loved. I hope you're unashamed.
Oh, yes! Opposite me is a linear park (browning off now) & at the end on the main road are filtration ponds where there are masses of birds. The Wood ducks *walk* 😬 across this road, up my street & graze on people's gardens. Occasionally see them on my lawn. So peaceful watching them. (Stock photo)
