Nier Automata is the perfect comparison for me tbh, it pulls off the same narrative gut punch exp 33 does so much more effectively.
Playing expedition 33 and just finished act 1. It’s good, but I had almost no emotional reaction to *the thing* that happens at the end of act 1.
It happened WAY too early in the plot for me to have that strong a connection to the characters and their relationships atp.

I listen to the song itself quite often, I can tell it’s translated but I still think the lyrics are resonant
Drifting soul has a few moments of that but I do think it still sounds beautiful and is emotionally resonant
