I just remember how annoying it was when fans of *that ship* played into this reading like it was some kind of trump card. Like how could Anduin ever be gay for a man who caused such destruction when he could instead be in love with a woman who is a backstabbing kingslayer lol

After a millennium of manipulating events on Azeroth, Zovaal just kicking back and pouring himself a glass of wine like “now comes the easy part, I just let that dragon kid do the rest” like what???

I just want to throw up my hands and say “so what if he was responsible for all of that? So what if Wrathion is the most important character in modern WoW? What then???”

I’m so baffled by his exclusion from this expansion. It also would’ve given the game a chance to show some of his remorse over what happened with Garrosh and make that struggle clearer

Why is he being treated like he was on planned sick leave or taking a sabbatical lmao

Even King Anduin having to struggle a bit and actually work to restore his reputation and earn back the trust of his people, particularly some of the other leaders of the Alliance or the night elves, would give it a little *something* my god, like there should be consequences for what he did

But they don’t really do that anymore. War hawks like Genn and Turalyon are softened, everyone kind of just gets along with each other now, especially on the Alliance side, there isn’t that contrast that makes for interesting character interactions and can spur subplots

I think you put it really well when you said they “play it safe” with the writing now. Like having some characters with teeth like Varian and Garrosh and Illidan to bounce off of more “neutral good” characters like Anduin and Khadgar was part of the spark that made those expansions memorable.

Yeah, I can’t say I’m *excited* for Midnight in the same way that I was excited for the beginning of The War Within but at least I’m having fun goofing around with friends and chatting about what I like and don’t like about the story. I’m looking forward to housing right now.

I want him to not be a shining beacon of saintly goodness at the point in the narrative when he would not and *should not* be a shining beacon of saintly goodness. Also can the Alliance have a tiny power struggle in the vacuum he leaves behind? Just a little? As a treat? 🤏

I feel like there’s something more to say about how Bl*zzard continues to fumble a potentially compelling and nuanced depiction of mental illness here all because they can’t bring themselves to sully their golden boy

I know it’s annoying that I always bring it back to wranduin but still, like no wonder wranduin is too spicy for Bl*zzard, they can’t even have Anduin be responsible for a mid tier political crisis in Stormwind

Anduin Wrynn having the most convenient, responsible, and noble mental breakdown he could possibly have is so incredibly bland. This has all of the flavor of a saltine cracker.

idk I think the aspects’ visages at one point had that misty effect, which was updated in Dragonflight to be a sign that their aspectral powers had returned, and something was lost in translation somewhere along the way so Wrathion’s visage’s eyes inherited that effect even though he’s not an aspect
