Getting sober without stigma International Lawyers in Alcoholics Anonymous is a bridge for lawyers and judges to seek help among peers, without worrying about running into someone they’ve prosecuted, defended or jailed

Any lawyer who thinks they might have a problem with booze probably does. However, getting help can be daunting in a culture where unsustainable schedules are rewarded and acute stress is the norm. @suebailey99.bsky.social has that story. nationalmagazine.ca/en-ca/articl...

The Supreme Court of Canada at 150 The anniversary is a chance to deepen public understanding of why the legal system, with all its flaws, underpins democracy — at a time when it’s under threat elsewhere

Re-educating law schools While observers differ on how they think AI will ultimately shape the legal profession, they agree on this: how lawyers are educated, trained, and licensed must change to keep up

“There’s an assumption that the new crop of lawyers is going to be AI fluent, and they’re going to pull the firms along. I don’t think that’s the case at all," says @profbenperrin.bsky.social. That story from @suebailey99.bsky.social. www.nationalmagazine.ca/en-ca/articl...

A bird's-eye view of a former Auschwitz II-Birkenau camp showing a wide dirt pathway flanked by parallel rows of barbed-wire fences. Groups of visitors walk along the path, surrounded by the remnants of brick structures and barracks, now reduced to foundations. Green grass contrasts with the somber history of the site, as the path leads toward a guard tower in the distance.

Auschwitz was at the end of a long process. It did not start from gas chambers.

This hatred was gradually developed by humans. From ideas, words, stereotypes & prejudice through legal exclusion, dehumanization & escalating violence... to systematic and industrial murder.

Auschwitz took time.
